He clearly advertised himself as a fascist, he's delivering fascism.

The people have what they wanted.
He’s basically at his vote levels, which tells you people like the aggressiveness of the immigration round ups and seeing him be strong on defence, including telling the Europeans to pay up.

Americans are generally an isolationist bunch of been nowheres, who don’t even have a passport.

The thing about Americans, though, is they don’t like their money being spent on others, but if you fuck with them, look out, because they’ll spend any amount of time and money to sort you out.

are these ratings showing on the ground, or Is this more of a knee jerk nationalistic reaction to the fact that he is creating external enemies ( with the trade wars, and language used against old allies ). in times of perceived adversity the leaders of counties tend to get a popularity bump.
It’s MAGAts saying they like what he’s doing.

Ye but the lowest of any president since…. Himself in 2016 at 40%, currently he’s at 47%, that will go down rapidly after Liberation day.
Yes, I think I mentioned the levels in my replies above. The “euphoria” hasn’t worn off because his “shock & awe” campaigns are seen as strong and carrying through on promises. Plus, MAGAts are tying themselves in knots trying to justify his Putin lust!?!

The worm will turn, and it might be because of the most innocuous thing that he forgot to lie about. Who knows? The easy solution is a natural death from choking on McDonalds, but…

Canada - 51st state/resources
Greenland - 52nd state/ resources
Panama - canal commerce
Gaza - Trump resort
Gulf of Mexico - ego trip

Goes to look at world map for future Trump claims in the 2nd quarter of this year…

State of New Mexico - renamed New America
playa de las americas - annexed as it is ‘America’
South Africa - president Musk appointed in return to ‘golden age’ of apartheid.
Portugal - annexed as birthplace of Columbus, for discovering America
Italy - annexed after finding out its the real birthplace of Columbus
Scotland - becomes Trump Nation, as Trump already owns a part of it, so should have it all

And then he can then pretend he isn’t the son of an immigrant if Scotland is part of the US.
Germany next so he can pretend he’s not the grandson of an immigrant, and so that they can get some half decent cars without tariffs.

Joking aside, if Trump says they want Scotland as part of America - who would actually stop them ?

RFK Jr. to gut vaccine promotion and HIV prevention office, sources say, laying off all of Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy

The entire staff of the federal government's Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy is expected to be laid off, multiple federal health officials told CBS News Friday. The moves are part of a broader restructuring planordered by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. that involves cutting 20,000 HHS positions.

Much of the government's efforts to buoy lagging childhood vaccination rates nationwide have been run through OIDP, including a new campaign called "Let's Get Real" that had launched in the final months of the Biden administration to provide resources and information to health care providers talking to hesitant parents.

"Spreading the truth saves lives, so use our resources to help parents understand how vaccines work, why they're safe, and how they help protect kids," the department had said of the campaign after it was launched.

It is unclear whether other HHS agencies that had been overseen by Levine, like the office tasked with updating the federal dietary guidelines, will also be cut. That office had been the target of criticism under Kennedy's Make America Health Again agenda.

The new AHA agency would also absorb the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and Health Resources and Services Administration, according to a fact sheet published by the department.

This might just be the turning point the country needs. When people start dying of deseases they didn't used to and to a large degree, there will be a massive back lash. Can you imagine if they had an outbreak and had to put the country in lock down? Not much chance of that happening after covid and the anti vax deniers.

As Signal Gate draws on, news coverage is waning. At this point, I think that team Trump-fiasco gets away with this.

And that might be a good thing.

Should Trump not dismiss at the very least Waltz, and Hegseth as well, this is not going to sit well with neutrals and indeed with some Republicans not entirely drunk on the Kool aide.

It'll likely be years down the line when something happens though.
The wrecking will have been done, and the coffers thoroughly looted - those responsible will be long gone.

Disagree.

What's going to matter is if the economy is worse under Trump or not. If Trump somehow manages to turn the sinking economy around in spite of his idiotic tariffs, MAGA popularity will continue unabated.

Why do I disagree? COVID deaths had zero impact on MAGA popularity. It'll take something much more lethal than COVID in order for death from disease to overtake the economy as the primary influence on election outcome.

A one-word post which you made into two words, and then spelled incorrectly.

Even your short posts are fucking stupid.

Ring the bell. Ring the bell.

Is bellwether one word or perhaps two?
I do not know and neither do you.

So why do you rail?

My English is perfect. Your English is frail.

And what of other confusing bell-terms?
Bellend, belligerent, and bellicose too?

I cannot fathom impossible words.
And thus I am certain, that neither can you.

I'm no medic but surely that wouldn't be a natural death.

MAGA is much bigger than Trump. Even if Trump were to die, some other radical right candidate will emerge as the Republican nominee. And will get roughly 50% of the popular vote when running for president.

The silver lining in Trump's second term - if there is one - is that Trump is carrying out an agenda that is so far radical right and/or based in lust for revenge, that he's pissing off large swathes of voters. And his fascination with tariffs, I think, will be the determinative factor in the midterms - because I think that Trump's tariffs will tank the economy.

Serious question for our sane friends from the US on here.

What happens if it becomes apparent that the current administration is able and willing to manipulate future elections sufficiently to remain in power and continue in the same vein irrespective of what's happening in the economy etc?

I know you can argue that the malfeasance or economic chaos will get him in the end or that ultimately SCOTUS will come to the aid of the constitution etc but it's no longer beyond the bounds of possibility that none of those things will be enough. History tells us that revolutionaries can use democratic institutions to achieve power and then systematically dismantle them.

It might become apparent as soon as the midterms that they will stop at nothing to retain control. If so, what happens then? What will you do?
