I don’t think that will ever happen personally. No one really wants it on any side. Now if Trump is serious instead of performative about expansionism, and using the military to take territory by force — which I also doubt highly — all bets are off on what the future or structure of the nation looks like.

I have no idea if Trump is serious or not or even if Trump knows if he himself is serious. Trump is a serial liar, has absolutely no interest in the negative consequences of his actions on others and is almost certainly mentally unstable. So no one knows. Trump will likely do whatever he can get away with without negative consequences for himself personally.

Yep. That’s it in a nutshell. I really wouldn’t be too surprised if the Pacific coast states and the New England states ended up eventually seceding from the union if things go badly in the midterms. Unlikely but not impossible.

I would be amazed if that happened. Remember 1860, civil war would surely follow.

It's interesting getting the views of US nationals residents on here....even Dax's wind ups, as it does give the view of people actually living in the madhouse.
That said, save for the madness of Dax, the majority who contribute to this thread share a similar view.
Obviously as something of an outlier in here, for the simple reason of not wanting read or listen to the same views as myself and this got me thinking as to whether there are similar threads to this on US / MLS teams sites? If so, are they places where Dax would feel at home and the majority here would be the outliers?

I don’t know. Probably. But wanting to hear the same views as myself isn’t why I’m here. I’m here because I’m frightened about the future, and I need a sanity check daily that what’s happening here is just as dystopian, abnormal, amoral and twisted as it seems to me. Dax has already said voting for Trump will never be a mistake so his mind can never be changed; he is fully committed. As such, he becomes more my enemy with each passing authoritarian, stupid, cruel and craven action the man he supports takes.

I should note that anyone who refuses to change their mind in the face of overwhelming evidence of a contrary truth is an enemy to progress on nearly any topic.

Out of the three, I’d far rather be aligned with China than the other two. What’s so great anymore about a world where the US can do what the fuck it wants with impunity? Why is it objectively preferable that the US has control over Greenland than China, given the way the former is acting? I’d definitely trust China in its foreign dealings than the US or Russia right now. Or rather I’d distrust them less.
