US Presidential Election, Nov 5th 2024

Have you got an example?

Well you had Adam Schiff directly state Trump colluded with Russia and, I think it was him, called Trump a Russian puppet. The Mueller report actually found no evidence of this.

He was called Hitler and a fascist (I have historically called him this myself but for elected officials to resort to that rhetoric is another thing) despite being in power for four years and arguably none of his policies are close to Hitler. This election campaign the democrats and sections of the media 100% upped their “name calling” - I guess to counter the other sides spiel but as I said you can’t take the moral high ground then resort to similar tactics.

They questioned his mental capacity whilst simultaneously claiming Biden was “as sharp as a tack”. About a week later Biden was forced to step down.

They claimed he is a danger to democracy whilst also ignoring their own protocols and not holding a primate. In fact Bernie sanders was unfairly pushed out despite grassroots wider support than Hilary received making arguably a mockery of their own sense of democracy.

You had the 60 minutes editing debacle.

And he was banned from Twitter after his presidency when months later, in the Twitter files that was leaked, it showed direct CIA and government officials helping to shape their own compliance rules. This might be more conjecture but did the government lean on Twitter to ban trump?

And I have to say I am left leaning and by no means a trump fan but you can’t depict yourselves as the good guys and then play dirty when it suits you.

It's only game over when everyone accepts that is the only path to power. It's a vile template that's been shown to work before in history, it's also been shown that even the vilest of ideologies and behaviours can eventually be defeated and rolled back albeit at great cost. It might take the world being on fire to make us come to our senses but they only truly win when everyone else simply falls into nihilism. I know that is easy to say when you are an ocean away from the eye storm but we've already had a lite taste of it and it is very likely coming here too in our next election cycle.
The naïveté is adorable. Nihilism is the only defen(s)ce.

We are never ever going back to decency.

Ever.

Why would we when lies work so much better?

Explain to me to downside of being a scumbag.

You are missing the point again. Why is owning the libs so important to republican voters? Why is making America great again so appealing? Why are they against the mainstream media? Until the democrats come to terms with those questions, it won't matter what their policies are, or absent someone special, who their candidates are.
It's a failure in aesthetics, for democrats.
For example, movies. Their movies are not as popular as 20years ago. In my country, people prefer those old movies like [the lord of ring], [black hawk down] and [kingdom of heaven].
Now they have a strong narrative about "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion".
It is so strong that they can win every debate.
But many people just don't buy it.

Looking at the results in hindsight, the Democrats would probably have needed a transformational candidate ( an Obama or Clinton) type orator to give them a chance of winning.

And will have to for the next twenty years unless they get their act together.

Because they generally live in specific communities and often vote as a bloc. Identifying the where and the whys of their politics is important.

As an example, I live in a village right next to a town that is heavily Hispanic. My town has barriers to entry, such as home prices and property taxes that limit the size of the Hispanic (and black) community. That is important demographic information.

You don't mean that how it sounds, I imagine.

If that is the democrat approach to how the majority of Americans feel, then they will be out of power for a long time unless they can find someone special.
Forever. Not a long time. Forever.

Because I doubt Democrats will ever bring themselves to nominate a person as morally-reprehensible as Trump, whereas the GOP always will, every time, after this win.

Explain to me why they wouldn’t.

But that’s the Dems’ fault.

The term “barriers to entry” is common here and, while I can see where you’re going, I’m merely referring to the reality in the ground here. I live in an executive bedroom community which is the first stop on the Express train in the city. The towns along that rail line are all expensive Chicago bedroom communities, and are generally white.
My children went to the Catholic School 1 block from my house, which is on a 24 acre park. There was (maybe) 1 or possibly 2 non-white children who attended that school. We took them out of Catholic School for High School, because they needed a more diverse understanding of reality, which meant going to the school in the Hispanic community. While it was great for my son’s Spanish, and they had a great soccer team, they were also bringing home tales of gang fights in the hallways and after school, with the girls often being worse than the boys. Needless to say, it was an eye-opening experience for them.

Long before we ever moved there, the town (Rolling Meadows) was nicknamed Rolling Ghettos for the numerous multi-family dwellings that had drug and gang issues, and a large number of smaller, more affordable, bungalow style homes on small lots.

I didn’t draw the boundaries or play the property sizes, I’m merely reporting the reality of life in my particular corner of suburban America.
