US Presidential Election, Nov 5th 2024

So in other words, for the Democrats to win they just need to . . . 1) lie and 2) agree with Republicans.

They should hire you as a strategist!

Also, just FYI, for the world to become less racist and misogynistic, those who are must have epiphanies. By definition.
You don't convince people to be less racist by telling them they are racist. If they don't think they are racist then why would that convince them? If they are proudly racist then they won't be bothered. If they are worried they might be racist they'll deny it and give their mexican gardner a $50 dollar Christmas bonus.

The absolute best way to demonstrate you're not racist is to support the black candidate who also demonstrates their not racism by campaigning on the promise of legalising weed and helping black men sell it. This has the win win of allowing white college kids to tell themselves their not racist because they have a black friend who sells them weed. His name is Derek but it's better marketing if he tells everyone he's called DeMarcus. It also helps black communities lift themselves out of poverty and deprivation by having locally owned black businesses creating taxable drug dependency.

Oh wait now I understand. You're right I hate women

I don't think democrats need to sink lower than Trump and his cabal. I think if they just stop calling people who disagree with them stupid and uneducated then that will help. Also saying America is too racist and misogynistic to appoint a black woman as president isn't going to win you support. No one is sat listening to that and suddenly having an epiphany that maybe they are racist and misogynistic. They'll just say it's racist and sexist to assume black people and women should have voted for Kamala because she is black and a woman. I remember people being outraged that Bigga would have a negative view of Obama because they were both black.

Also the democrats might be the party to protect women but from the rights perspective the left can't even define what a woman is. Then the left accuse them of being unreasonable and weird for believing something the vast majority of people has believed for most of human history.

The undocumented migrants defence is weird. Hey guys we need people who will work jobs for low wages and it's important that there is no record of them existing. I don't think rounding them all up and deporting millions of people is the best response but neither is supporting a system that is only a few steps removed from human trafficking. One of the first responsibilities of every government is to have secure borders.

For clarity I think Trump has very few redeemable features and should probably be in prison. But reading some the rhetoric on here is disheartening - not because people are indecent but because they demonstrate many of the elitist attitudes that the Trumpers easily rally against. Educated people can be stupid, racist, misogynistic and wrong. Telling people they are stupid doesn't make them smarter but equally being educated doesn't make you less stupid. You just have the biglyest words
Well written.
Instead of accusing everyone who doesn't share their political views of being stupid/racists/mysogynist, I think the Democratic Party and its followers need to take a long hard look in the mirror and ask themselves why their party is failing. They have now lost big, twice, against a man who even many republicans consider as one of the worst candidates they've ever had (even if many like him too).

From an outside point of view it seems like democrats are running their entire campaign on the message Trump=bad, the country will go under if he is elected, "democracy is at stake" etc, people already had 4 years of Trump and are apparently not buying it. Instead they should be focusing on what politics they are going to push to help people in their everyday lives. Seems like what most democratic voters know about Kamala and her politics is more or less "she is not Trump". Calling your political opponent Hitler, his voters idiot nazis and just assume all women and people of color will vote for Kamala because she has the same gender and/or race, clearly aint a great political strategy.

The sooner democrats stop being in denial and realise the reason they've failed is because of their own politics and not because more than half the population are stupid, misogynist and racist, the sooner they will adjust and come back to power.

Ah! Thanks for saving me the time and wasted effort.

Think you’ve missed my point. They believe right now it will fix the country. When they implement those things and then start to see the real world impact including on themselves, it becomes a very different matter and a lot harder to maintain.
So let me understand you.

Despite the fact that there is no recession, unemployment is low, the stock market up, credit is generally widely available, inflation is down, border patrols stopped more illegal immigrants than at any time during Trump’s admin and America is uninvolved directly in any wars . . . Next time this group is going to look at their circumstances in 2028 and reach a logical conclusion.

That’s what you’re saying?

This would be great post if any data at all supported that this is why people voted for Trump.

But just guessing you don’t have any.

By the way — I’m not a Democrat.

Hmmmm I actually think some of what the Dems say about Trump is accurate. It's maybe naive but political parties should stand and fall on their politics. Surely that's the point.

But people instinctively won't listen to a policy if they feel they are being talked down to which will instinctively happen if you think most people are stupid, racist or misogynistic which seems to be the main reason people who dislike Trump are suggesting he won.

Oh I get it, are you saying the voters shouldn't have judged their lives on the totality not the 3 and a half years of Biden/Harris but rather should have cast their vote strictly on the last 6 months. Including the disastrous response to Helene. A promotion of ideology over competency and a rise in crime, and inflation.?

You are suggesting they should have credited the administration for finally putting in place border executive orders that slowed illegal migration in the last 6 months that they could have put in place any time in 21, 22 or 23?

Foggy, it's time for some reflection. It's a hard pill to swallow. I get it. But it's time.

My objection to Trump all along has been that in any logical world he is supremely unfit to be President, and my assumption has been that most human beings would be able to look at the balance of evidence and conclude the same.

But that’s not the case. Why?

Because his voters believe character isn’t relevant? Well, I’ve lived my whole life assuming it is — and raised my kids to believe same, and try to associate with as many people as possible who believe the same — not about Trump, mind, but about how to treat others, how to behave.

The thing is I assume most of Trump’s supporters do too — not otherwise — and in fact most people in general do too, which is why this is so hard to grasp.

So what should I conclude about people who aren’t like me in this regard? You tell me — because apparently to conclude that they’re wrong means I’m an elitist or a racist . . . or something.
