US Presidential Election, Nov 5th 2024

This would be great post if any data at all supported that this is why people voted for Trump.

But just guessing you don’t have any.

By the way — I’m not a Democrat.
The intent of my post was not to claim any reasons as to why people are voting for Trump, other than I think it's ridiculous to assume they do because they are stupid/racist/misogynist. It mentions my thoughts on why I think the democrats political campaign has been a colossal failure, which it evidently was judging by the results.

Hmmmm I actually think some of what the Dems say about Trump is accurate. It's maybe naive but political parties should stand and fall on their politics. Surely that's the point.

But people instinctively won't listen to a policy if they feel they are being talked down to which will instinctively happen if you think most people are stupid, racist or misogynistic which seems to be the main reason people who dislike Trump are suggesting he won.
@FogBlueInSanFran This is talking to you!!!!!

With apologies to the late mr Bowie.

My objection to Trump all along has been that in any logical world he is supremely unfit to be President, and my assumption has been that most human beings would be able to look at the balance of evidence and conclude the same.

But that’s not the case. Why?

Because his voters believe character isn’t relevant? Well, I’ve lived my whole life assuming it is — and raised my kids to believe same, and try to associate with as many people as possible who believe the same — not about Trump, mind, but about how to treat others, how to behave.

The thing is I assume most of Trump’s supporters do too — not otherwise — and in fact most people in general do too, which is why this is so hard to grasp.

So what should I conclude about people who aren’t like me in this regard? You tell me — because apparently to conclude that they’re wrong means I’m an elitist or a racist . . . or something.
The obvious answer is more of the electorate voted for change, not looking much past the fact they are unhappy with what they've got and one party was offering just the status quo. Most folk aren't that interested in politics you know Foggy,

He won because he told us what he thought was wrong and how he would fix it and more people believed him on both counts than didn’t, and Harris did same, and fewer believed her than didn’t.

The difference is Trump is a serial liar, so . . .

And the other offered something different . . . But mouthed by a serial liar.

Does anyone see the problem here?
