US Presidential Election, Nov 5th 2024

What's the problem? Something is usually seen as better than nothing - the Orange Moron was not short of answers to the problems he identified.
Any time I saw him he couldn’t complete a sentence. He couldn’t stay on theme or story. He had answers but not to anything he was actually asked.

Still, that’s what they voted for.

They must have finished most of his sentences for him then. I definitely heard him say 'I'll fix everything' more than a few times - same as 2016.

This is personal for you in a way that isn't for me so I'll quit antagonising you. I hope your fears are unfounded and that's an isolated incident.
I get what Dax and a few others are trying to rationalise as how it’s always been, and you are at it now as well, but I have to say looking on as a spectator I totally get what Foggy is saying.

Never mind the individual circumstances personal to himself and his family. The fact is there was nothing normal about Trumps campaign since losing in 2020.
At least not to my eyes and ears. If that is normal now then basically anything goes. Win at all costs. Might is right. Incite hatred and possible violence towards minorities or anyone who threatens to expose lies or is not on the same page as you.
He was very careful at times with the language he used but although it was perhaps not legally possible to nail him, the subliminal message was far from obscure.

The fact that he won and there will be a peaceful transition of power is perhaps a blessing in the short term for ordinary America, but he has a long way to go to convince me that his presidency will not only pursue self interest and the electorate he convinced to vote for him are not a major priority to him or more worryingly, whatever is pulling the strings behind him, won’t consider them at all.

I am fully aware also that this is only my opinion looking very much from the outside in and I don’t have a great feel for opinion on the ground in America apart from what I get from in here. So take what you want out of that.
But if this is the feel or opinion on the ground in America, that this is alright, that you agree with the drivel and hate he has spewed knowing truly that the bulk of it is malicious nonsense, then I say to myself, I’ll leave you to it. It’s not a culture I would hold up as a role model to the world.

Just to say, nobody but nobody on here is claiming anything about Trump is or ever was normal. He's a monstrous one-off blister.

The hardest part for me is the majority of voters just . . . didn’t care. Because the other side talked down to them, or were just status quo, or they somehow didn’t participate in what has been a robust post-COVID economy with inflation now tamer. Every reason seems to be one that — to me — is Trumped by the rhetoric, serious or not, Trump espouses. Plus his lies, his criminality, etc.

It’s almost as if some look to blame Democrats because they have to be fucked up not to defeat this . . . but have others have said, fairly, they did once, and some of Trump’s hangers-on (like Kari Lake) got annihilated.

Regardless, if it’s all red across the board he has no barriers (which is frightening given his rhetoric) but no excuses not to “succeed” with his “concepts of plans” either.

i will say this — the extra dollars it takes me to live in CA and to a lesser extent OR seem money well spent now. It’s insurance against a dystopian future.

Biden lost these elections.

It's american culture.

Protestant, ambitious and Anglo-Germanic culture.

It is not the humanist and Catholic Mediterranean culture.

Americans love a winner.

And, as character, Biden is a loser, and Trump is a winner.

Biden lived his entire life in politics. He is a man without presence. You whatch him and hear him and your insides feel nothing. You turn off the TV or fall asleep when he appears on the screen.

Trump represents the "self-made man." Successful businessman. He transmits interest, energy, security...

These types of choices are won by the character. And Biden made Harris lose these elections, because Biden was the one there and caused fatigue and indifference in the American people.
Explain to me this self made man thing.
I’m not getting that.
