US Presidential Election, Nov 5th 2024

So can you give an example of a show where he had a bunch of gotchas for a Democratic Candidate or black woman?

Surely, your assumptions are based of past examples, right?
You are, once again, asserting things I have said…which I haven’t.

Carry on.

JRE is a non-political, unbiased, non-Trumper podcast that discusses everything in a fair and balanced manner… and I have a bridge in Brooklyn you might be interested in.

From my Christian viewpoint I see plenty of support for Trump and plenty of opposition to Trump. I'm in the UK though and not the States. It's also hard to extrapolate from social media etc how pervasive a view is. A niche view that's well presented can appear to be more popular than it is. However I listen to and watch podcasts from Christians that are pro and anti trump. A good example is the new Evangelicals podcast which is ran by a guy who went from Republican to Democrat mainly based on trying to reconcile Trump with what he considered the bible teaches about tolerance and foreigners etc

To me a big part of the debate is about the Governments role. This is a big generalisation so if the Americans want to disagree or add nuance then that would be appreciated. For example an Republican Christian's view on welfare benefits may appear uncaring because they don't believe tax dollars should be spent on homelessness or something but they may give charitable donations to homeless charities. It's not always that people shouldn't care about an issue but who's role that is to fix IE the government or individuals.

There is also the thought in the more conservative republican churches that Trump is a figure like Cyrus in the bible. He was a Babylonian king that helped the people of Israel so Trump's flaws can be acknowledged and then rationalised away by referring to that kind of figure.

I think I read earlier in the thread that abortion rights hadn't been a big factor in the democratic vote but it certainly seemed to be a big deal in the media I've seen that is Christian and leans right. For clarity the discussions I've seen Christians have around this is not anti women but pro baby

@ChicagoBlue I'm curious what your motivations for turning to far left extremism were? I must admit I struggle to envisage both you and @FogBlueInSanFran going to bed at night clutching your limited edition Marx and Engels hot water bottles. I've looked at both my copy of Das Kapital and VI's collected works; but I can't see anything in them that suggests not wanting a President who is a convicted felon, sex offender and serial conman with seemingly a significant personality disorder, would mark you out as liable to join a revolutionary cadre. But maybe you have later editions than me?
Got it in one, and well stated.

I’m getting whiplash from BM’s view of the extremes I seem to inhabit…at the same time!

Color me crazy, but a socially liberal, fiscally conservative, law and order voter, I straddle Democratic and Republican bases. However, from there, the candidate, their views (centrist or extreme) come into play.

Oh yeah, felons and rapists need not apply!
Extreme, huh?!

;-)

Leftist drone? That’s a new one for BM! Usually I’m called a right wing gun nut! Haha!

As for belief, I was talking about specific issue…JRE.
A lot of us thought that was funny. Clueless moron who has spent no time on this thread in sapient idiocy shocker.

OT Had a good one with your employer today. Pulled into EWR gate, SBS off, we all stood up, and then the captain came on and said “I taxiied too far in to the gate, so they need to attach the tug and push us back a few feet if you all wouldn’t mind sitting for just a few minutes. Our apologies.” Then a three second pause. Then: “In my defense I stopped where they told me to!” The whole plane burst out laughing. It was great.

And the lovely thing is that while you and I might disagree on certain aspects of POLICY we are 100 percent lockstep when it comes to the basic moral character we expect in people, especially leadership.

It doesn’t seem that difficult, does it?

Depends what you mean by Christianity. It’s more Christian fundamentalism that Republicans are aligned to which is no better than fundamentalism from any other religion. It’s all about intolerance and control, just like the Taliban.
WWJD?

Would he have 5 children by 3 wives, the last one a nude model upon whom he cheated with a porn star while the wife was pregnant?

Yeah…NO!

Been there, done that!!!

The guide man seems think he can cross his wands at the speed of light and we can stop a 400,000+ pound aircraft on that dime!! Plus, they all have their own cadence, whereas we control the cadence if the electronic docking systems!

I feel his pain! :-D
