That was a straight vote, the US stuff is stacked around certain States, Without any real knowledge is guess even if Trump won 55% of the states if they're the wrong ones for the bulk of seats he'd still get battered.

Watch what happens...

There are HUGE RED STATES (Republican), where you can win by ONE VOTE, yet you get ALL the Electoral College votes. That state might have 5 votes, because there is almost no-one living there (.e. Rural populations with very low population density, which is how electoral votes are delineated). Accordingly, all the rural Republican states make it look like LARGE SWATHS of the country are Republican when, in actuality, there may be a small number of votes making that state Red, but it looks like massive numbers of people are being disenfranchised by a President not of their party.

So, when you see the BLUE states, with the major metropolitan areas, you are looking at tens of millions of people, and thus large numbers of electoral votes. Therefore, this election is about some big states, with large urban AND rural populations, where they run purple...FL, OH, MI, PA. Trump needs ALL OF THEM to have a path to the White House, so the election should be over by around midnight on Election Day, as each of those states is in the Eastern Time Zone.
