People can disagree and not take offense or be offensive @CitizenTID is the perfect example of that.
It's just about keeping in mind that such topics aren't simple and have a heck lot of information surrounding them so you can't expect everyone to have read what you have, or presume how much people have read. The great thing about this forum format is that in discussing things, people will throw up bits of info you're not aware of, which you can look into and continually mould your opinion to whatever you feel is right. It's boring and tiring as anything when it all resorts to arguments and attacking one another without new info presented or things backing it up if questioned, which is why I always completely avoided politics when I was younger as it so quickly resorts to attacking one another - happens at the very highest level such as in Westminster where they all sit there on 6 figure incomes jeering each other like primary school kids. Even if someone managed to argue and attack their way into convincing every other forum member to share their exact viewpoint - what will that have accomplished except waste their own time or stroke their ego?

Like you allude to, if debating something some arguments or little things that could be perceived as attacks are inevitable when people are blunt in trying to get their point across quicker but does yourself a favour anyway. The only real productive use for a debate is to learn things from each other to fine tune your own opinion so waste of time going on the offence.

Very true mate, I dont agree with what you post on this thread sometimes, but you are always reasoned and are never abusive, so it adds rather than detracts from the discussion.

I think the proven xenophobia, racism and mysoginy of Trump should be enough to put anyone off. The paedophilia allegations are not as clear cut but his recorded comments to teens and small children are fairly creepy.
As for Hillary, it seems that she's had that much shit thrown at her that some of it has stuck in most people's minds. She's probably done and said things that would put many people off but she's not in the same league as Trump when it comes to lying, hypocrisy and general stupidity.
It's a shit choice for the yanks but seriously how can anyone with a brain even consider Trump?

I'm with you all the way to the part I underlined. I don't believe it is a shit choice, but an DO believe that a candidate that has ZERO SERIOUS POLICY PLANS to present to the American people has done a wonderful (very Republican!) job of painting Hillary as some kind of Anti-Christ. He even publicly called her a "Catholic hater" (she is Methodist) in front of a room filled with $3000/plate diners raising money for Catholic charities, while she was sitting next to the Archbishop. He is a pig, publicly and privately, and an embarrassment to the Founding Fathers. One can only hope the process they put in place to stop such tyrannical despotic charlatans from seizing ANY political power in the U.S. works during this election...

If the election was today, who would be president??, every poll I look at gives a different outlook, is it really that close??, I know nothing about politics but trump seems to be an absolute crackpot, Americans aren't that naive are they??, or is Hillary the wicked witch of the west??

Both!! I think if it was today, they would be quite close in terms of votes but the way it is set up over there, each state gets votes in the electoral college, the bigger states getting more votes than the smaller ones, you need 270 to win, I think Hillary would win this.

Yeah exactly that's all I'm after, things being added, at least you can look past any arguments if so. I meant 6 figure income there I just realised, wasn't referring to the interns :)

Agree with every word.
The thing that most worries me if Trump gets elected is not related to his illiterate policies - he'd never get anything too extreme through congress and the senate. It's the fact that a narcissistic thin skinned fraudulent buffoon would have his finger on the nuclear trigger and he doesn't need congress or the senate to agree to him pressing the button. He only needs agreement from the Defense secretary who would be appointed by Trump himself. I know it's unlikely he'd do it but I'd rather it was almost impossible than just unlikely.

If Hillary just wins the traditionally blue states, and one or two of the leaning blue, she is home free. If she wins FL, NC, PA, OH or MI, she should be home free. All of those are in the Eastern Time Zone and the TV channels poll the shit out of voters leaving the polls, so they should have a pretty good ACTUAL count AND polling data very shortly after the polls close. The election could be all but over BEFORE the polls on the west coast even close, even if Nevada and Colorado are considered swing states.

If she wins two or three of the eastern states listed, Trump is going to have to upset her in MULTIPLE states, because those 5 states are fairly well populated and carry a lot of electoral college votes.

Last projection I saw had Hillary ahead by 42% to 40% and 350 odd votes to 180 odd.
