US/UK launch strikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen

This thread should be part of isreal gaza thread since it is a direct retaliation for what the disgusting, stupid israelis are doing.

Houthis are doing this until Israel stops the near genocide they are committing

Why? Different entirely.
The Houthi Rebels have been attacking any ship not just ones destined for Isreal.
There was a 48 missile / drone attack on the navies protecting the merchant shipping lanes on Thursday - so no surprise we stuck back.

The stretch of water is Yemen teritory, much like like how Israel blockade and sink boats off the coast of Gaza for years while the US and Europe inc the UK ignored it, same Azerbaijan and turkey have been ilegally blockading armenia for years, when we gonma bomn the shit put of them?

We cannot then decide a blockade isn't allowed if we don"t like it, we have no legitimate right to attack a soveriegn nation for closing it's waterways.

No mandate, no parliamentary vote, no opposition from Labour, Sunak has joined in like a lap dog into US fuckwittery which we have no business getting mixed up in.

The hypocrisy from world leaders is as per pathetic.
Half of that stretch of water also belongs to Djibouti and Eritrea and it is an international shipping lane that carries a significant proportion of world trade and any disruption to that shipping lane affects everyone. The Houthis are another Iran proxy like Hamas and their targeting of shipping that they say has a connection to Israel is just another provocation by Iran against the west and its main enemy Saudi Arabia. We are acting in our own interests along with the Americans, Australians, Bahrainis, Canadians and Dutch to ensure the safety of international shipping. Comparisons with blockades that don’t impact strategic international shipping routes make little sense.

There's not a fuckin chance those jets would be in the air firing missiles if the Israeli ships wasn't part of this.

The fact that 2000 ships have diverted round the Horn of Africa causing increased costs for everyone is a bigger factor than looking after Israel’s ships I would say. The vast majority of Israel’s trade uses Mediterranean ports due to the port of Eilat being remote from most of the country so any impact on Israel losing shipping access to Eilat would be minimal. The coalition attacking the Houthis are acting primarily in their own interests.

You reckon? They are directly attacking UK and US War ships with drones etc. While there's a lot of moving parts in terms of finanacial impacts to the UK/EU and the like ( shipping being diverted around Africa pushing up costs etc, election year in both UK and US ) that will probably be playing part in this, generally speaking, when you attack the US/UK Navy. you get hit back.

Im not saying I agree we should have done this, its a risk of widening a conflict in what is a pretty messed up world but there's no way this wasn't gonna happen, a few events can be fobbed off, but there was alwasys going to be a turning point. the question is, is this what the Houthi wanted to happen.

I am impressed about those posters in the UK who are happy to use Natural gas for their heating but didn't care where it came from. If the red sea route is closed the gas bills will soar. Let me see you wave their flag when you have no gas for your wellbeing

Why can’t the Western countries organise a convoy system like we had in the 2nd World War. Muster the ships at each end of the Red Sea and escort them through with war ships, air cover, submarines etc. It would be excellent training for the military.

There has been a convoy presence in the area for years due to the threat of Somalian piracy (another bloody problem in that region).

Convoys typically act as a deterrent but there can be no deterrent against suicide drones and missiles.

Because they are doing it in solidarity with Gaza. And have said they will stop when isreal stops.
