That's fine, enjoy the increased cost of living and don't buy any petrol.
ah the old but it's affecting my pocket argument. Great stuff

And shows that we’re only interested if it’s going to cost us in our pockets, forget lives, they don’t matter.ah the old but it's affecting my pocket argument. Great stuff
My point really was that the Houthis are not luvvy freedom fighters who just want the best for Palestinians.
This is the Houthi slogan
"God is the Greatest
Death to America
Death to Israel
A Curse Upon the Jews
Victory to Islam"
And people are defending them? Well I won't miss them.
Interesting that people are justifying attacks on Yemen because they are violating international laws by not allowing ships to pass through.
International laws only apply to Yemen, Palestine and so on. But not to Israel, us, uk.
One person says diplomatic pressure should be exerted on Israel who don’t give a shit about diplomatic pressure. They’ll stop once all of Gaza is uninhabitable.
Should diplomatic pressure be applied to Yemeni houthis whilst they keep firing rockets at the ships, I ask?
It's being widely reported as "attacking the Houthi rebels", not the Houthi people. My point was really that you are right about the protection of shipping in international waters.
You seem to be less right about your view of the Houthi. They are a tribe predominantly in northern Yemen. Men, women, children. Some are rebel fighters. You wouldn't miss them? I assume you mean the rebel fighters? No argument there as long as the US/ UK response is proportionate. Pedantic maybe, but in this thread more than any other, it's probably important to be precise, I think.
Two wrongs don’t make a right. But if the west isnt doing enough to stop Israel, someone wrongly tries to force their hand.Of course you are right, there is hypocrisy in foreign policy. But you aren't debating with the government here. I think most people on here think Israel has gone too far and should be told to stop. But that doesn't mean that people on here who think shipping in international waters should be protected are wrong.
It's called reality, if we ran around protecting everyone and shouting about every injustice in the world then we wouldn't get anything done and we would be much poorer for it. We have to protect our own interests first which is no different to what everyone else is doing.ah the old but it's affecting my pocket argument. Great stuff
I'm not talking about the elimination of the Houthis, I otherwise don't really care about who is in power in Yemen. I'm talking about eliminating this immediate threat to shipping because that can seriously impacts us all.My point was really that you are right about the protection of shipping in international waters.

I think many people seem to think that we have launched into a war on Yemen, Shock and Awe Iraq v2.0. This is not the case, we've essentially dropped a handful of bombs on a few sheds.
