No one gives a fuck any more.
The government have cut police funding. OK, how about GMP go on the offensive? Fund 10 (?) cars, and cops to man them. All they do is drive around looking for cunts on phone, cunts jumping red lights, fucking cunts who use the middle lane for cruising, cyclists jumping red lights, knobheads not indictating on roundabouts.....on the spot fines for cunts for being cunts. Those cars would find themselves within a week.

Unmarked would be better. Just cruise around. Quick flick of the blues and twos. Sorted.

Police funding cuts mate. Speeding is dealt with by "camera safety partnerships" - privately run concerns with cameras poking out the rear window so nobody is out there tackling bad driving . You leave it and it gets worse in the "give them an inch" idea of things. The Police authorities would much prefer to be on TV shows busting cannabis farms or Policing rallies and protests. If you ever report a theft you'll be lucky to even get a visit off your local PCSO these days so whilst I too would like to such a crack down unless we are all prepared to dip into our own pockets to provide the funding you can forget it. It is definitely on the rise, the scare tactics of a few years back have obviously been forgotten by many. On any given day if I am out in the car it is 100% guaranteed I will see at least one, if not four to five, people on mobiles in just a 10 mins trip on local roads - don't see it so much on motorways though, thankfully. You can even tell sometimes if the car in front is likely guilty of this, they tend to slow down and swerve, presumably as they dial or text away. I just can't understand it - it is proven to distract from the road and it can end up in causing death.
I was told that it is standard practice now for the police to check the mobiles of any driver involved in an accident as standard practice, and if they see any activity by you within 10 minutes of the incident then it is noted as a possible factor. I'd fully support more preventative measures for this offense.

A car should fail its MOT if it does not have an active Bluetooth hands free kit.
Any new car sold in the UK should have hands free included.
It is a safety issue thus anyone caught using their phone whilst operating machinery should face prosecution.
One problem is however that people argue they are using their phones Sat navigation system and aren't using phone/text messaging so whilst there are imbeciles who have no regard for life, there are genuine people who are using sat nav on their devices.
