Just watching some old city on Uwe Tube - 1996 under Ball; Uwe looking crap.
He did great in the few games at end of 94 and had a blinder in 94/95 but after that it was pretty much all downhill 95-98. How will he be rated? A one-and-a-quarter season wonder?

I remember him putting in a world class performance against Blackburn in the rain, in our red and black striped kit with the criss cross pattern. We won 3-2 but it was bittersweet because we basically handed the rags the title that night.

He scored an amazing chip against someone too?

Hmmmm think your getting mixed up here when we beat Blackburn 2-3 that rainy night back in 94 with probably our best performance of the season Blackburn went on to win the league. Coming back to Uwe good centre forward who had the misfortune of being managed by Alan Ball towards the end of his City career.

As one might guess from my screen name, he was my hero when I was young. Great player for us, but not really European elite level. Not that anyone expected this back then, of course.

I think Uwe was an international for East Germany at the very beginning of his career, but never featured in their national side after the unification.

Top guy, I might add. Got to meet him once a few years ago in Norway of all places. Seemed to sincerely love City and was happy to spend a few minutes talking about the old days.

Uwe was a very good striker but not quite up there with the very best in his position.Whether he'd have been even better in a side better than City in those days is hard to predict.Although he played in the champions league eventually for Kaiserslautern(and scored iirc) he didn't establish himself as a top striker elsewhere.
Uwe is a legend here because he bought into the club and the country, and made a big effort ,rather like Zabs now.

Always thought he has poor with his back to goal, like the goat was, needed to be attacking the ball. Fortunately he had along side him Walsh who excellent with his back to goal; could hold it up well for a little guy.
