Colombian international Jackson Martínez has definitively ruled out a move to Valencia on transfer deadline day, insisting he’s happy at FC Porto and doesn’t want to move. Alternative target Álvaro Negredo is also proving to be a complicated option from Manchester City.
Departing for international duty with Colombia, striker Jackson Martínez has drawn a firm line under any further speculation linking him with Valencia, by announcing he’s staying with FC Porto.
“I’m going to stay here. I’m calm about it all and I don’t think there’s any need to push things. I’ll keep on working hard and give everything I’ve got for this club. What happens in the future will come naturally.”
Valencia manager Nuno Espirito Santo had been clear that his club would be making a stellar signing, during his post-match press call after the victory against Málaga this weekend, stating: “The player who arrives will be the bomb, a fantastic player and a player who will bring magnificent things to the team.”
It won’t now be Jackson that makes an explosive appearance at the Mestalla on transfer deadline, however, the club remain attentive to their options as the day unfolds, with a striker being one of the priorities.
Valencia are patiently waiting on the possibility of moving for Manchester City striker Álvaro Negredo, but that too has hit problems. The English side are reluctant to let the Spaniard go, unless they can make a top quality addition to their attack. The English side have missed out on one of their top targets though, with Falcao heading to Manchester United instead.
