Van Gaal New Rags Boss (confirmed page 18)

Re: Van Gaal New Rags Boss

Sounds so arrogant.

Don't think he will do anything unless he gets rid of the past, and starts a new dynasty.

I fully expect United to be in the top four next season unfortunately.Van Gaal will command far more respect than Moyes from the players.
I think everyone is expecting total upheaval there.

Ferguson left Moyes an old team so the new manager has to decide how many of Vidic, Rio, Evra, Carrick, Giggs and RVP he keeps

That's 6 automatic starters from their team last season.

It wont be easy for them to recapture the title next season, because it will be a transitional season. A season of re-building

I can`t believe that some are saying just because they appoint Van Gaal they will make top 4 next season. There are no certainties for top 4 next season, it will be difficult for all, as everyone will look to improve:

City: We will tweek what is currently the best squad in the league.
Chelsea: The addition of a world class striker(s) will only make them better.
Liverpool: They are now back on the map and I expect with additions they will consolidate on their top 4 finish.
Arsenal: The close call of almost not qualifying for the CL will give them a wake up call, and I fully expect them to address their short comings up front.
Everton: Depends on whether Martinez can utilise the loan system to the same effect again.
Spurs: Just don`t know. They have quality players but lack leadership both on and off the pitch.

Now on to United: If as expected they lose Evra, Vidic, and Rio then a big slice of their warchest will be spent to only put them back to where they currently are. Like Spurs they lacked leadership off the pitch, but unlike Spurs I don`t believe they have enough quality on the pitch. Rooney carries this team, but I can honestly see them trying to offload him to raise funds to get numbers in. In the space of 12 months United have fallen away big time. Ferguson did not address the problems that were looming on the horizon. The appointment of Moyes has caused them to stand still for 12 months whilst those around them have moved onwards and upwards. What Van Gaal is faced with is that their aging squad is 12 months nearer retirement and their value in the transfer market of the players they want to sell has fallen.

In summary, it wouldn`t surprise me if the current top 4 are exactly the same next season.

Re: Van Gaal New Rags Boss

Van Gaal hass struggled to hold down a position abroad for more than a couple of years. That stands in marked contrast to the length of time he stayed at AZ and Ajax. Many people have predicted he will have problems internally, but I suspect his greatest difficulty will be with the English media, especially those in the papers. Ferguson would ban those he disliked, but van Gaal will basically try and intimidate them in public by screaming at them and having arguments. That might have worked on the continent, where reporters tend to be more respectful and shy away from public outbursts, but in England he's likely to meet people who are equally forthright and with a better grip of the language (arguably). So, I suspect it will start well but either late in the first season (especially if we're winning under phlegmatic Pellegrini), or early the next, there will be a veritable Krakatoa.

What is safe to say, is that before a ball is even kicked in 2014-15, just like this year, nobody will be writing about us.

Re: Van Gaal New Rags Boss

He's an improvement over Gollum. But so, too, would be the homeless guy huffing glue out of a paper bag I saw outside on the street yesterday.

Past that, who knows? He is going to need incomings obviously. But no CL and much competition for signings will prevent them from adequately addressing their many needs. Even if Uncle Malg were willing to spend 200 mil or whatever, I doubt they get an optimal set of results from that. More likely to emulate what spuds brought in than get top quality for the money.

Probably will take at least another year past this before they can threaten the top 4, I'd think.

Some rags say he's pushed Wio out the door and Wio is spitting feathers, sign of things to come?
