Van Gaal New Rags Boss (confirmed page 18)

Re: Van Gaal New Rags Boss

The Rags have so may questions for next season. I mean 3 out of 4 of its defense will be gone or should be. Vidic and Evra are still pretty good. Camel Gob is shot-an accident waiting to happen. The only one that stays is, by far, the shittiest one. Now they do have Phil the Face to slot in to CB but whos to say he will return to be a worldbeater. RVP is a crock and Rooney can be a volcano waiting to explode. How many really top notch players willl they sign. MAYBE a couple but they might sign some right shit as well. The fact that they wont play in the EuroDisney should help. Its a double edged sword though as they will drop a huge number of coefficient points. The quicker they drop out of Pot 1 and us replace them the better!!!

This is not good for us.

Nonsense. People said the same thing about Mourinho last summer and look at how that's ended for Mou. He had less work to do on the Chelsea squad than the rags have to do on their squad this summer. Van Gaal will be good for United because he's a top manager, but they will still be a long way from challenging us. We're pretty much the finished article as far as the PL is concerned. They are a rebuilding job waiting to happen.

We'll see billy...
There is no way on this God's earth that next season they are going to perform anywhere near as poorly as they have this season.
This season was a perfect storm of events that came together just right. It couldn't have been more perfect if we had designed it.
Van Gaal is top class and it will show.

I'm curious as to how you've come to the conclusion it's "not good for us".

You seem to acknowledge we have a better manager, better squad, and are starting from a relative position of strength. On that basis it really has no baring on our own title challenge next season whether the rags get Van Gaal, Mourinho, or Guardiola. My personal respect for Van Gaal is immense btw ... I do think the guy is a top manager. However he's not a miracle worker and the work the rags need is both all encompassing and time consuming.

I think i'd put more stock in the notion that this season was a "perfect storm" for us if Liverpool hadn't effectively replaced the rags as the form attacking team in the league. For us this season has been not hugely different from last season or the season before other than that Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool have been much better even if the rags were a lot worse.

Billy in one of your very recent post you called Van Gaal 'a genius'
Make your mind up fella ;-)

I don't see anyone on here saying we should swop Pellegrini for Van Gaal so everyone is with you on that score.
What some are saying is that Van Gall is a major upgrade on Moyes (which isn't difficult I agree) which he most certainly is.
The rags business model is built upon and suited to a 'mad disciplinarian'/ control freak type of manager.
It maybe not the way that we and some other clubs want to run their operation but it doesn't make it wrong by default.
Van Gaal has an excellent track record at big clubs. More often than not he delivers. If he does get this mythical £150m 'war chest'
they keep harping on about (and he must have been given some assurances before he signed) he will spend it wisely and they will improve
from where they are now to a position in the top 4.
Nothing more. Nothing less.

Good summary, TGR, although I can see them finishing top 3 if the wind's in their direction.

Not good enough for first or second, even with some shrewd buys and under good management. There is too much re-building, and then assimilation, for that.

Re: Van Gaal New Rags Boss

I thought I read that there could be trouble financially with shares having to be bought if they miss out on Europe two seasons in a row, they can't get any worse than they are at the moment so Van the man I have no doubt will improve their position, what the ticket tout is spouting is pure drivel to get the bastards to fork out their money again.

He's a genius football manager. But managers can only get you so far. Otherwise surely Chelsea would've won everything this season what with them having Jose the Know How.

Re: Van Gaal New Rags Boss

Is it telling that he's got the welly at all his big jobs?

Sounds like they'll be a major dressing room cull to get things off to a flyer next year or during the close season.
The likes of Camel gob, Giggs, Vidic, Evra and maybe a couple of others will be outta there!

There'll be blood on the carpet I fear. May get worse for them before it gets better. Lets see if they can take the medicine without firing the doctor!

Re: Van Gaal New Rags Boss

Can't see them spending 150 million, that is a made up figure to appease the fans. They probably have about 60 million kitty and any more to be raised from player sales. Rooney's contract is the biggest issue with incoming players and selling him to Chelsea would probably solve a lot of problems. Then they have rebuild the defence and buy a Carrick replacement. Top four is the best they can hope for and they could have competition from Everton and Spurs again depending on how both deal with the transfer window and if Everton can keep their manager and Levy appoint a decent Poccetino like one, who plays football but can get the team working as a whole.

Re: Van Gaal New Rags Boss

Fundamentally yernited's problem now is the quality and quantity of their players. Several are leaving and others will be cleared out.
They require a massive rebuild/investment to get them where they need to be. Question is weather VaG is the right man for the job and weather he will be allowed the time to do so.
The bad news for us is he clearly has the experience to become a successful manager.
The good news for us is that he is clearly a very spiky customer. He will upset an awful lot of people not least the media who will go to town on this big time. The owners are not exactly the most patient and need the club to be successful pretty quickly for financial sustainability.
Either way, I cannot see him turning them around overnight given the size of the rebuild required and it's going to be a load of fun to watch whatever happens. With any luck this will blow up in their faces in a very public way.
