VAR - 2020/21

Do you know the lino would have flagged without VAR. Maybe they were hedging their bets?
Yes, they are now all told not to flag unless 100% clear its offside. So he flagged despite this instruction (so to imagine he wouldnt flag previously is ludicrous), got it completely wrong and would have cost West Ham a perfectly good goal and a Victory

West Ham wouldn’t have beaten Spurs last week if it wasn’t for VAR, a perfectly good goal that the lino incorrectly flagged. And we should scrap it and go back to this ?

For all the VAR controversies, for which there has been many. There is very little talk when there has been so many goals allowed/disallowed CORRECTLY.

The World Cup worked well with VAR because it was 64 games , the PL is having games on TV pretty much daily and with that there is always going to be heightened controversial decisions - problem is even when the correct decision have been given, so many still say ‘what a joke ‘’ ... for what ? All because they’ve done a quick check and got a correct decisions. I’d rather that than all the absolute bonkers decisions refs give without any help, watch a couple of lower league matches without VAR and you realise just how ridiculous some of the decisions are.
just my view of course
Why would they not have beaten Spurs? If the second is ruled out they're still 1 up. Anything can happen.

To me the issue with VAR is quite straight forward. VAR was brought in by demand because the refs and assistants kept making errors of judgement. We still have errors of judgement being made but its no surprise as we still have refs and assistants in charge.

Makes no difference.
To claim retrospectively that the result would've been different but for var is a bit of a stretch.

don't see why that's a stretch, Spurs were well on top and we had relatively few chances, had our goal been ruled out then we would unlikely have won the game.

It's a stretch because it's supposition. You could say that it may have made it harder to win but you most definitely cannot claim that without var you would've lost.

So you’re advocating an incorrect decision?

While nothing is guaranteed, having watched the entire match it would have been very unlikely West Ham still win the match if the second goal would have been ruled out incorrectly. All of the momentum was with Spurs.

At the very least it was a game changing decision, an unfair one at that. Which in all likelihood effects the final result.
