VAR - 2020/21

Just watching the tennis and realised that they do not use hawkeye even though they have the facility to do so.
A serve looked in but linesman called it out. Umpire comes down from his chair and rules it out also. Hawkeye shows it then and is clearly in.
Commentator then said the French open authorities don't want to use it.

No reason not to use technology that is working at the other top tennis events.
The French binned hawkeye years ago as hawkeye themselves say it is not 100% accurate. Less & less tennis tournaments are using it & Wimbledon even talking about getting rid. Apparently it is even less accurate if it is either windy or raining.

God you are desperate loser. Admit you have called both your examples wrongly. Its what you are asking the refs to do.

You are not getting what our cockney visitor is trying to tell us mate..

Let me remind you, it goes JUST like this...

"But.. but.. but, VAR's cut out all of Salah's diving and the miles offside goals..

And if VAR was bent the rags would get all the decisions instead of my team, poor old wet spam who are getting shafted all the time..

(I take it that all the penalties awarded to the rags last season to get them into the CL were all fair and above board then.. Probably just down to VAR bedding itself in to be fair) ..

Look at all the statistics I've posted, including .. 74% - 1033 people polled said VAR's brilliant..

You can close this thread on that stat alone..!

(Millions of match going fans hate VAR with a passion and don't form part of the 1033 who think it's wonderful.. )

It's the future, it's not fair expecting the refs to guess all the time..

If Salah punched Kev in the face and the ref missed it you wouldn't be happy would you?

(Mane punched a defender in the face last week and wasn't sent off, not a peep out of VAR..)

It's not fixed, it's fair, you're a funny lot on here..

You are the second most successful team over the last decade, just behind Chelsea..

If VAR's bent, why have you won so much?

(Maybe City need to score 3 first to negate the bent system, we have outscored every PL team for a good few seasons now..)

I'll remind you again, my team wet spam win nuffink, we've got a serial winner managing us too, Moyes has actually told everyone he's a winner even though he's won jack shit in the whole of his management career btw..

To be fair, even I could put a spin on that..

Anyway, back to VAR, the shit calls in every PL game, the same shit calls VAR was brought in to iron out are just teething issues, that's all, be sorted out any time now..

City get more than their fair share of penalties..

(Maybe it's because City spend more time than any other team in the oppositions penalty area..)

Teams who spend the most money win the most..

(The rags have spent shit loads and haven't won the PL since 2013..
You may remember the birdshit eater diving and winning penalties every week, even way back then..)

Did i mention my team, wet spam have been fucked over more times than any but I can see the good in VAR.."

(But wet spam are in the PL to make the numbers up, unless the chosen one breaks the habit of a lifetime and does actually win something..)

There you go my cockney sparra, I've saved you the trouble of regurgitating your one and only post on this thread over and over and over and.. zzzz... on here..

Cut and paste the above, don't forget to delete the sentences in brackets first though

You can then post it every 2 pages, obviously when you have the time and you're not in off topic being part of the furniture..!

The ONLY thing that VAR has ridded the game of is players scoring when standing 5yards offside, EVERYTHING else has stayed in the shadowy grey area.

EVERYTHING else is still open to interpretation/biased interpretation/skullduggery/corruption.

Brutal but spot on.

Cheers buddy, at least you've taken notes of some of my points - not totally getting them all but fair enough.

Missed out one important line i say a lot, that is i'm not a massive fan of VAR, i just think it's the right way to go rather than the old way of officiating.

EVERYTHING else is still open to interpretation/biased interpretation/skullduggery/corruption.

Goal line tech people are happy with...

would you also say it's a benefit, when there is a leg breaking challenge that was missed by a referee ? or say when Suarez bit that Italian player that time at the WC, It was missed by the officials and Suarez didn't even get a card.
Now there's VAR, he wouldn't even had attempted that, and if he had he would of seen Red. surely that's a benefit ?

Diving can still be considered a grey area i agree, but when a player used to dive with zero contact, refs would often point to the spot... surely that's a good thing players can't go down like their shot with no contact ...

No more Maradona/Thierry Henry blatant type of cheating handballs to knock a goal in. That's a thing of the past also.

Goal line tech isn't open to interpretation, it's an exact science; is all of the ball over the line? Yes or No.

Maradonna's netball goal happened in 1986 and Henry's goal was 11 years ago! You can cite TWO occasions from over 30 years of football, and you're willing to happily watch, and maybe even applaud, the arrival of an opaque, mysterious refereeing system that's tearing apart the sport and turning it into "penalty"ball.

You go on about specific elements of the game which you now believe to be things of the past, but it's an organic world and other, far more sinister, monstrosities have quickly taken their place.

VAR's use (and equally none use) has already morphed into some sort of selective slow-motion/freeze frame aberration which not only subtracted from the matchday experience but which also doesn't even ALWAYS show the "armchair" paying customer how/why match changing decisions have been arrived at. Opaque instead of transparent? Ask yourself why a multi-billion pound sports industry would allow that to happen, when less high profile but equally complicated sports have managed to introduce transparent, fair versions of VAR much more effectively.

Oh, and it's my opinion that the players/managers/coaches have clocked onto the "if there's contact" loophole and as a direct result the instances of diving/simulation/feigning injury have actually increased (to my eyes); cheating is the new king of football, and it's being richly rewarded. "No contact penalty" vs "a defender placing his hand on an attackers shoulder and attacker's feet suddenly react as if they're tied together" penalty - take your pick.

And then the on field ref either gives the decision or doesn't, and don't get me started with that area of debate.

VAR is simply a tool to aid corruption, unfortunately for yourself and equally unfortunately for fans of other "mid-table" teams, you will only see the occasional occurrence of it (but only if a chosen team needs the help, so maybe once or twice per season max) but you will mostly witness occurrences of the scattergun "incompetence" they use to hide the corruption.
