It shouldn’t be a ref doing VAR, it should be a computer expert that simply cues up the exact moment the ball is touched by the passer and draws the lines to perfection, or creates as many angles as possible for the ref to see any incident, WITH THE ON-FIELD REF consulting the monitor!
Refereeing from a booth is EXACTLY what VAR was meant to avoid, but creep is always inevitable!
We need to respecify EXACTLY what VAR is and isn’t, and ANY decision made using VAR MUST be made by the designated ref for the game! No more hiding behind some twat in front of a computer!
They do not have the technology to get the exact positions, for offside, that is a fact, whoever the computer wizard is, it doesn't matter.
What they do have is two chances to get a decision correct, they manage to get it wrong twice on too many occasions.
The referees are not fit for purpose, but even more importantly the people who elect the officials and decide on the fashionable law interpretations are not fit.
They do not seem to be able to foresee the implications of their decisions.
