If I take my tinfoil helmet off for a minute, I reckon the reason it wasn’t shown to the referee is because those adjudicating never looked at that angle before coming to their decision. I’m sure they probably would have shown it and disallowed the goal if they had.It’s only when they show a goal on the main site from every angle that you appreciate how many angles there are, so the questions really are whose camera captured that image and why can a panel of reviewers not see all angles before deciding?

Is it not more likely that BT send the footage for review to adjudicators and they send that to the refs screen. Meaning it was still BT choosing the angles?

VAR shows how corrupt the game has been for some time and if the Premier league is the same next year, please don't be, I'm done with football completely, I've never been so annoyed and disillusioned in 50odd years of watching the game, f**k u UEFA.

VAR could never be as corrupt as Premier League referees and nobody in the league will feel more positive effects from it than us.

The Aguero goal gets ruled out by VAR at ANY GROUND IN WORLD FOOTBALL. Get a grip.

Even if he had been shown that angle confirming it hit his hand first, would he have given it as handball? By the laws of the game is that hand ball?

Yes, it would have been ruled out. The ref shrugged before he stepped away from the screen and then tapped his hip, so it's quite obvious it was because he wasn't able to get a view on the contact with the elbow.

I think Llorente's goal should have been disallowed...but I can't understand why we made them score their first 2 goals so easily. And the last goal by Agüero deluded me of reaching the semi-finals....

It’s quite simple, they wanted it to stand.......as the headlines say this morning ‘ Spurs prove it’s not all about money’ . We are hated, take your pick of reasons.

I understood that it wasn't about money when Ajax dumped Juventus, sans VAR, so that's just (unsurprisingly) lazy journalism. I'm not into the hate thing and prefer to reason for my reason. As I say, we need to learn how many angles are taken into consideration and who then decides which are reviewed. VAR was always going to throw up debatable decisions (Otamendi in Gelsenkirchen) but last night showed that those operating the system can get it hugely wrong. The clubs(s), fans, and sponsors deserve answers to those questions.
