Var debate 2019/20

If it’s true and VAR wasn’t used in the first half, how can the Premier League come out with the statement that VAR looked at the handball and deemed it wasn’t a unnatural position?
Somebody is lying if the rumours are true.

For it to be covered by the law requires it to create goal-scoring opportunity. Alexander Arnold didn't. The law does not apply under GSO.
It just looked to be plain and simple handball which stopped the ball running straight to Sterling.
It started a goal scoring opportunity, it reversed the direction of play and gained possession for the opposing team. Depends how many phases you wish to go back to? This was a far more serious transgression than the Offside given in Sheffield game . Wasn't even offside, wasn't in the phase of play that led to the goal, and it took 4 minutes to decide. Liverpool were not going to lose that game yesterday, the whole build up , officiating , post match analysis.

Obviously they will still review the decisions with the footage, but suspect the reason they add the little idents etc... is for the stadium attendees. Don't see why they should be producing content purely for the benefit of Sky, they can do that themselves.

You don't see anything in the stadium. The screens show fuck all. So the questions that needs answering are:

Goal 1. Why was a handball allowed to commence an attack which a team score with 20 seconds later.
Goal 2. Why did the goal not get reviewed for offside with the red and blue lines? It took them 4 minutes at the Etihad to look for a reason to rule out Silva's goal in the last game yet it took ten seconds to not check this one. Not that I trust the operators. Dependent on which frame they use depends on whether he is offside or not. We need less frames per second not more. Having an armpit offside is bollocks.

It's cheating pure and simple.

No other conclusion would go anywhere near explaining some of the shit that VAR and the whistling wankers have come up with this season. And it's all very well for Old Mother Riley to appear once a month and hold up his hands and admit 'mistakes'. They aren't mistakes, Michael. Clear penalties for which Blind Pugh would have no need of any technology are not given, and unbelievable penalties given on the basis of looking for an excuse to award one, offsides that appear to be decided on the basis of who has bought a raffle ticket pre-match.

I have always accused refs of cheating by varying their application of the LotG depending on where an offence took place - free kick anywhere on the pitch with the slightest contact and no semblance of a foul being committed, but get tripped in the area or have a hair on yer arm come a midge too near the ball and then we see pens not given or given depending on which penalty area it happens to be. The best thing for PiGMOL is to fuck off Old Mother Riley, sack the whole stinking mess of 'em and go and get a couple o' dozen from Hough End.

I am left thinking after yesterday, and another VAR, or lack of VAR, screw over, could the game be managed any worse than it is now, and I am left with the sad and worrying conclusion that the bastards have only just started.

Have seen a post suggesting VAR was unavailable for at least the first half at Anfield due to 'technicalities'.

Any truth to this? Would explain why the calls came back lightening fast, compared to poor Sheffield United who had to wait an eternity to be told offside by a toe, and also why no lines were drawn and why the ref didn't go to the monitor.

Not sure we'd have won yesterday regardless, but a level playing field would be nice.

The simple truth about VAR is that it allows referees to make errors knowing that their decisions will be legitimized by VAR on the grounds of not being "Clear and Obvious", no matter how outrageous and inconsistent that decision was. A win win situation for the officiating ref and pigmol.
