Unique occurrence in the Brentford, Brighton game last night that we would have all missed at the time.

The first time ever in the Premier League that a referee has been sent to the monitor for a possible penalty and ended up giving a free kick to the defending team.

Andy Madley is also now the only referee to have twice rejected a VAR recommendation for a penalty.

If only they all did the same.. Most are spineless twats .. Giving decisions they know full well are not correct …!

Well it was an unusual incident. And quite a technical one really.

The VAR was aware of the potential defensive foul but he cannot give that. So he had to highlight that there was also a clear and obvious penalty incident and then leave it up to the referee to give the defensive foul.

The easy thing probably would have been to just let play continue with the onfield decision of no foul either way.

But that then would have gone down officially as a missed VAR review for a penalty.

So many questions about that incident. Anyone else think football will disappear up its own arse at some point with all these rules and protocols?

Me. Like the new ball boy rule. They are inventing shite for the sake of it.
Last night I was at the game. The first 2 goals correctly given by the officials but oh no, we all had to wait until Professor Brian Cox and his team systematically examined it........ and then agreed with the officials. Its killing the live game.

Madeley had a bet with Toney for 0-0

No way would he let OliVAR award it.

:)

Can’t believe VAR missed the Sheffield player violently attacking Van Dijk’s hand with his throat.
