I agree with complete transparency but I believe the bigger problem is consistency. Offside in one game is onside in another. That could be reduced with semi-automatic offsides but would still leave the "interfering with an opponent" aspect open to interpretation.
Handball decisions must be judged more systematically and there should now be sufficient examples from every angle for greater consistency to be achieved. Every time you see a defender running with his hands behind his back to avoid a potential handball call is an indication that those who apply the laws don't have a clue about human movement. As for defenders trying to jump with their hands by their sides......

Interestingly, there hasn’t been a single penalty awarded for handball so far this season in the Premier League

The ruling for that off side decision against Wigan was ridiculous though.

It might make it easy to judge and less open to interpretation but I certainly wouldn’t want a rule like that transcending over into football.

For those that don’t watch it. If you’re in an offside position and are within 10 yards of where the ball lands, it’s an automatic offside offence. Even in a case like in the Grand Final, where the Wigan player was about 8 yards behind the action and playing no part whatsoever in the action.

certainly questionable but the the clarity of the decision and speed in which it was take was 100%.

No players surrounded the ref complaining.

First rule of team sport, only the captain should be allowed to to talk to the ref.

Anyone else....10 minutes in the sin bin.

It would stop in 2 weeks.

Oh I’m not doubting the decision. According to the rules, it was an easy decision that could and was given after one quick replay.

It’s just an awfully rule. You don’t make up the rules on what will be easiest to adjudicate.

Whatever the rules are they should be obvious to fans watching in the stadium and on broadcast. Football has gone the opposite way in the last 10 years and it's maddening.

We don't want absolutely clarity and accuracy after the event when some **** has to explain this week's rules to us. We want to understand the game as it is being played and know instinctively when something is wrong, when something is so close it can go either way, and when something isn't a problem at all.

The idiots running the game is are making it unwatchable.

VAR and it's inadequacies is the gift that keeps on giving . Football has to be a 24 / 7 attention grabber for all the industries that demand eyes on the page . The big leagues have always known that refereeing decisions create churn and controversy and it's this that can be especially monetised as people argue endlessly about them ; live television and endless action replays are what has demoted the position of match going fans . The most important audience, for the biggest single funder of the league, is the fan at home . Those of us who go to matches will never be a priority as we only ever matter to a single club and unless clubs can't sell tickets it doesn't impact .

Football is now primarily a highly successful global television spectacle and debating the rights of wrongs of decisions made in the heat of fast dynamic games is an essential part of engagement. The leagues have a vested interest in maintaining controversy .Social media has poured petrol on this . Posts going viral in real time can cement one version of a decision ( red cards in particular ) even before the game has finished . Again this favours the viewer at home as match going fans are less likely to be on their phones during the game .

In football the rule makers got into bed with the TV companies / PL in 1992 giving both their independence and their power away , adjusting the more subjective rules the referee is responsible for more and more frequently in response to the media noise , giving the appearance that they don't know what they're doing. Hence more controversy , more more outrage . More eyes on the page. A licence to print money .
