VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

I would rather VAR fucks off. It's only a game.

How about this: It’s 90+ mins, Man City are playing Madrid in the European final. They are winning 1-0. Vinicius has the ball and is whizzing down the line, a player closes in, he crosses it and the ball goes behind. City players are screaming and appealing that the ball deflected back off Vinicius, Madrid players and fans scream it came off the City player.

The ref is totally unsure as could not see from his angle.

Funny as fuck. Swings and roundabouts. Life lessons. Doesn't mean people won't be going ballistic, though. Always have always will, even with VAR.
Bang on

How many times a season is a goal scored from an incorrectly given corner? I’d be pretty certain that in the Premier League you could count them on the fingers of one hand. So over 380 games, maybe 5 corners are the issue. I personally don’t want even more delays to the game for something that isn’t a major problem.
It’s progress though mate. “All fans wanted VAR”

This sums it up perfectly:

What a finish: I almost certainly won’t be the only person to say this but I am massively surprised that the buzz-killing curtain-twitchers in Stockley Park didn’t find some reason to chalk off that Aston Villa winner.

Leeds would never have got that clear penalty if it wasn’t for VAR and Leeds wouldn’t have gone on to equalize. Mind blowing people want to scrap VAR when you see clear fouls like that not being given.
VAR is one element at arbitrating a game where the focus should be on making sure that the result reflects exactly what happened during the game. The problem I have with VAR is not it's use but the lack of transparency, the comical cartoon explanation of offside, and, as happened with Josko's goal last week. VAR indicates they are looking at offside. Clear as day that no one was offside but why does it take two fuckin' minutes to look for something that only needed twenty seconds.

Yep took my boy to ebbsfleet today. was nearly as bad as Hammers match v Liverpool last week I went too. Not sure your point.
Just on my way back home from City on the bus home..

I have been reading this VAR thread for a long time now and have been biting my lip for some considerable time but when your shit team gets relegated this season hopefully, you will fcuk off from this thread permanently as there will be no VAR for you to wank over ln the championship..

What a sad bastard you are, hanging around on a Manchester City forum..

An easy winner of Post of Today.
A front runner for Post of the Month.
A strong contender for Post of the Season.

Please take a bow.

VAR was used today in our match when the Sunderland player got sent off.
The refs initial decision was yellow card only.
I would prefer to do without VAR and I'd have got over the player staying on the pitch.
And in real time it was a yellow. It was only a million slow motion replays that made it look worse
