VAR impact and consequence log - game 27

Just watching the highlights from Brighton, our first goal yesterday from the angle behind the goal, Kevin's shot very nearly hits the defenders arm.

What would have happened if it did, but still went in? It was on target, going in, if it hits his arm does VAR step in and rule out the goal? Is it a penalty in that case, but no longer a red card to double punish the offending team?

Nothing would happen. Just the goal.

updated for Norwich game, beginning to think I'm wasting my time

OK I'm keeping this going because I reckon PiGMOL are reading bluemoon and know I'm watching them, hence the lack of VAR incidents in our games recently. Not that it would have made the slightest difference today, imperious display and a record start, well done lads

If you want an entertaining last day of the weekend - have a look at Spurs forum - they are absolutely livid at VAR disallowing Auriers goal at Leicester yesterday. Ha ha suck it up you cockney muppets - didn’t hear you complaining in the CL last season or the PL fixture at our place a few weeks ago - enjoy another season of winning fuck all - with or without VAR

They should be going mental, that goal being disallowed is absurd. I’ve no problem with out CL goal being ruled out, Aguero was a mile offside

On a wider point re VAR, we have the worst of both worlds. Clear pens are not being given but VAR seems to be used for trawling through footage and looking for reasons to disallow goals - there needs to be an “umpires call” element I.e that Spurs goal should have stood as should Jesus V West Ham and Spurs

I hope the Leicester fans were giving it the “square in the air” at them after the game!

That was a disgusting decision, for whatever team , the league table at the end of the season will be a perverse VAR version

Most worrying is that Ref prat on BT sports coverage still calls offsides a factual decision despite all the evidence to the contray. This is then repeated by the panel as if true. But one asks walton if their is amargin of error built in he says ' i dont know' . Despite this he claims the Spurs match was a good day for VAR.

Old Mother Riley has admitted to four VAR errors inside five weeks of games. It might be a low count considering the number of minutes, games and incidents, but VAR has been implemented to eradicate errors. It has mopped up a few but its use is not error free. It would not surprise me this season as to how many managers lose jobs, teams lose points, and clubs lose trophies because VAR gets it wrong, or the VAR shed wallahs strangle the life out of the LotG in order to deliver a decision.. There was a page spread in the programme yesterday about when VAR would be used - I was none the wiser reading it.
