VAR impact and consequence log - game 27

Bang on, last season the goal would have caused no real controversy, the referee was part of the playing area and if the ball touched him, tough shit crack on. This season they've decided that he's only part of the playing area until the ball touches him, then he isn't. So what was originally a straightforward rule now becomes one with grey areas. Yesterday the ball didn't touch him, but what would have happened had it brushed him? would we then have a 5 minute delay whilst VAR looks at that to confirm it?

VAR remains IN PRINCIPLE a positive addition to the game. Where it is falling down is in the way it is used, and the way it is contributing to the need(?) to re-write the rules of the game.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, VAR should be for clear and obvious errors in all respects, including offside, so for example yesterdays goal against us would have stood, whereas the Jimmy Milner one from last season would not. Most fair minded fans I think would be OK with this as long as it was fairly and evenly applied (which is an entirely separate issue)
VAR is not fit for purpose, not in any way, add the corrupt twats reviewing it into the mix and you have the perfect platform for what can only be described as match fixing in plain sight....
It needs fucking off pronto....!

the real big worry i have with VAR is ???
i would love to know how much real involvement in the game has the VAR officials got ?? because from the first game to now every game i have seen the officials are talking to them on everything even the 4th officials and line officials flagging late, its clear VAR has told the linesman to put up the flag

there was a couple of blunders by the officials in games a couple of years ago when VAR was being use in the back ground the the referee was seen to ask for any help ??? the 3 or 4 main VAR points that we all was told would only get involved with is clear bullshit and the match officials are now just robots and being told what to give by a earpiece, the real problem is not just making wrong calls by VAR but who's making all the calls ? its 100% clear that the match officials are not in control of the game anymore and are told not to think just listen because they think they have it under control in a studio,

forget the fans moaning and wanting to not go to games because of VAR and think a boycott will make them listen, it just does not work like that ?? the big problem is why the players and managers and clubs are letting this go on and on, they are the real power in the game here not the officials, if the players have had enough and want out or they strike then VAR will be gone or change within a weekend its that simple

Why aren't the refs miked up ? Who knows what is being said. At least in rugby union/ league you as a fan know what the ref is looking at, especially on the telly, at the ground the replays give you a good idea.

Maybe for this season, but VAR isn't going away, so the sooner it's amended the better

It's not going to be improved beyond this season either. And the fact this report has come from the BBC (Liverpool's biggest cheerleaders this season outside their club) doesn't give me the greatest of confidence.

Read something today from someone at the international football associated or some such body and he said exactly what your last paragraph said.

They are looking to change it to clear and obvious errors for offsides too. So if it isn’t immediately clear then they stay with the onfield decision. I really hope they bring this in. It should just be for howlers.

because the best team is not allowed to win the title again and its seen as bad for the premier league if one team keeps winning it ?? unless its united
the hard truth is we took the devils money in the first place (sky's) tv deal and that is the problem ?? its just a tv channel sport and not football anymore and it has a script because there is to much money involved, from when you play to what time you kick off, its out of the hands of the football clubs and managers and players and fans

VAR is the golden ticket for the officials, no longer does the referee have full power or any power really in the game, the golden rule is play to the whistle ? well sadly is now play to the VAR screen

that was the original concept wasn't it, when it was first sold to us, clear and obvious errors. I still think used that way it would be a force for good, assuming fair and even application
