VAR (PL introduction 2019)

Having no monitor means that the ref in charge of VAR has a greater say in any decision made. Open to corruption more so than it is at the moment. We have already been fucked over with VAR this season at Schalke and against Spurs and I don’t see it getting any better as most decisions other than offside will still be open to interpretation
I was in favour of it but with monitors not without, the scope for cheating just went up a notch or two

Why not have it shown on the big screens and have the discussion between the VAR ref and the on-field ref heard as well as it is in the big rugby games. I heard that United and the Scousers don't have big screens so something else would need to be done for them. It needs to be as transparent as possible for all fans.

That would be ideal but if they are not even going to give the ref the chance to watch something and make the decision there is not a hope in hells chance they will do it

I understand, probably because of the bad press they get from fans, and rightly so. The reason PIGMOB dont want a screen is so that the 'on field's red can be seen to be making the decision themselves. Therefore increasing their standing in the media for being seen to be making the right decisions. Just goes to show how crap our refs are for us to be different from Europe's VAR. We have to use a different system to reduce the amount of flak they get.

Probably so but I suspect that things will develop over the years . We may benefit from VAR as we have the ball a lot. Teams playing on the counter will need to stay on side throughout the play. We might also benefit from fouls in the penalty area at corners as we don't seem to be the best at scoring from them.

Noticed in the rags game today towards the end that chong broke and he looked well offside and the replay they gave and the angle they used was as if to try and make it look as tight as possible when he was well off and by the way he wasn't flagged either I'm just wondering with the technology available today is it going to be possible to manipulate the images we are going to see.

The result of VAR should be an explanation and not a statement of fact. We need the same approach that obtains in American Football, AND I want to see what the VAR tosser will be seeing in his VAR shed. Anything less and my level of trust will be lower than it is now! I doubt that even the current crop of whistling wankers would show us every angle of the Llorente incident and then explain that a goal has been awarded because the ball was played with a legitimate part of the players body!!

I think VAR is good for offsides and things like the Son end line decision. Where it appears to be poor is the handball decisions. Nearly every handball seems to be contentious with no one sure what the right decision should be.

Apparently when var was used in the league cup one of the referees said on ofside incidents they have a mechanism that freezes it exactly when the ball leaves the foot of a player and is why they said in one of our games when Aguero looked well of side they said he was just so many centre metres.

VAR started off great in the World Cup, but by the end of the tournament it started to become contentious and in some cases, there were incidents that were overlooked for a VAR decision, when there was clearly a case for the ref to look at the incident again.

So it's a no from me, there will still be plenty of scope for PIGMOL to fuck us over during games I'm afraid.

The Goal Decision System is a definite hit with me on the other hand! There's simply no arguing with that system.
