Just been listening to a section of Talk Sport where they have been discussing the use of VAR in the Premier League next season, apparently there has been a big meeting today to clarify some of the issues. They had this "expert" on to explain it all and there were a couple of interesting points.
1. Through the trials of VAR the linesmen have been encourged to keep their flag down and allow VAR to review the decision if it led to a goal, this will no longer be the case next year. Why?
2. This is where it gets interesting, the guy claimed that when a decision goes to VAR it will be displayed on the big screen that an incident is under review, once reviewed the decision will then be put up again on the screens. ( all good to this point) The big news is that the incident will then be shown on the screen for all the fans to see, very similar to what you would see on Sky or BT.
All sounds very promising doesn't it.
Unfortuantly there are only 18 of the 20 clubs in the Premier league that have screens suitable to show these replays, and two clubs that won't be able to offer this video proof to the fans.
Anyone fancy guessing which 2 clubs can't accomodate the large screens?
Yep, you guessed it the Rags and the Red Dippers.
