I know we’re going around in circles. But how many games are labelled shambles by a clueless ref ?
Very few goals are stopped for VAR and the longer we give it time the quicker and better the system will be.
I’d be happy to just stick with the current system of a ref and a couple linos if it meant Fans, Media and Pundits give them a break and accept the ref has a impossible job with the speed of the game and 22 cheating players on the field appealing for everything.
It's not an ' impossible ' job, it's a difficult one, which they make ten times harder, by their own inconsistent interpretation of the rules.
If the same refs, gave each decision, based on the same criteria, one week to the next, then you would know where you stand with them & know that certain actions would be a pen, or red card, with a certain ref.
A couple of seasons ago, for example, Mike Dean gave a pen & yellow card against Sterling, for putting his hands on Ryan Shawcroft's chest, as Shawcroft pushed him backwards with both hands. Shawcroft himself said after the game, he had no idea why it was a pen.
You see that & you know he is never ever going to give a similar decision against anyone else & wonder why the fuck he did it.
Then the genius solution: let's give these bizarre individuals, the opportunity to do the same shit even more, by allowing them to go back in time & make even more stupid, bizarre, inconsistent decisions & generally fuck around with the game, as well as being subject to pressure from the usual suspects & the threat of corruption.
What a brilliant idea.
