VAR (PL introduction 2019)

It will rip the spontaneous joy away from the game completely.

I was all for it and its easy to want it when you are on the end of a shitty decision like we have been over the last few years but the reality of it and the realisation that it wont solve all and brings with it even more serious issues like fans at a game not knowing wtf is happening and seeing decisions given and overturned that you still say are wrong leaves you back at the start and thinking you know what, what we had whilst not perfect, worked and at least gave all fans the talking points down the boozer for a few days and by and large they where minimal.

VAR, hawkeye etc works in other sports, its just never going to work in football imo.

Do you not think the fans not knowing is deliberate to discredit /build frustration against it. Seem to manage it no problem in Rugby/Cricket, and have done for 15 years so why is it so difficult in football. Rags/Bin Dippers will be the only grounds where fans wont see decisions back, so there wont be transparency on decisions anywhere, which is a joke. Who's that to protect, ill give you 3 guesses, the aforementioned. Everyone knows if this comes in with little controversy then the playing field is levelled and the Cartel clubs will suffer. Second main criticism is the time it takes. Again, in Rugby/Cricket they don't have this stupid thing of the ref trotting across the pitch to relook at decisions and to check they're correct. They verify what's happened and if an error was made its corrected quickly by VAR. Funny that in football they came up with a ludicrous process despite having multiple Best Practices in place, but choose to ignore them all!!

Rugby and cricket do it differently, Rugby with it being on the screen, and discussed live between VAR and actual referee over an ope Mic come to conclusions together, whilst cricket see's the decision taken off field to the 3rd umpire, with effectively guidance from the on field umpire, ie "given out" and "given not out", and with debatable catches a "soft" decision is given from on field.

Both systems appear to work well, with few complaints, perhaps catches aside, so why football wants to go a route that's markedly different is anyone's guess.

Spot on,you would nearly think it was deliberate to try and discredit VAR,going by the women’s World Cup it’s been farcical at times ...

Exactly, its like there setting it up to fail from the start!! And you can see the public opinion is changing against it due to the way its being implemented. Deliberate??

VAR is as disastrous as the officials have been historically. Is the game so quick, margins so small, it can never have error free officiating? If so just stick with what we have and end this nonsense.

It just makes me laugh when VAR gives the correct outcome and people can’t handle it.
