VAR (PL introduction 2019)

Total fucking bonkersness. Said no to 2 season ticket shares because of this shit.

Dont blame you.

I honestly think this season and the shit VAR will impact upon it will be the breaking point for many match day fans.

Those that matter the most, who pay their money and get to games will be in the dark and left scratching their heads thinking wtf has just happened time and time again and its ridiculous.

I think the fuckingtottenham chumps league fiasco has scarred me for life..

It will rip the spontaneous joy away from the game completely.

I was all for it and its easy to want it when you are on the end of a shitty decision like we have been over the last few years but the reality of it and the realisation that it wont solve all and brings with it even more serious issues like fans at a game not knowing wtf is happening and seeing decisions given and overturned that you still say are wrong leaves you back at the start and thinking you know what, what we had whilst not perfect, worked and at least gave all fans the talking points down the boozer for a few days and by and large they where minimal.

VAR, hawkeye etc works in other sports, its just never going to work in football imo.

I seem to remember the PL have said the replays will be shown at PL grounds. *

(*those that can afford screens obviously, semaphore will be used instead in trafford and anfield.)

It needs more than that mate for those in the ground.

You also need full access to the discussions going on between the officials and VAR booth.

Without it its just not going to work.

Oh I agree entirely, but its an improvement that fans will see it at least. However that's what I want, same as rugby, but it also needs a rethink as to what is referred and how, this women's world cup they seem to have taken a totally random route as to what, and its far from pretty.

Absolutely.

For some reason the womens WC has seen it used to basically re ref any and every decision at times it seems and that is not what it is for.

This toe off side shite has to be done away with as well as its impossible to draw imaginary lines on to a still picture and claim with certainty that a player is offside by literally millimetres and have fans believe it.

Laws of the game will need to be tweaked to accommodate its reasonable and fair introduction and most of all the law makers need to realise that its still a sport that needs to be fair to both attackers and defenders and it isnt a 90 min show in which we are being entertained by the VAR booth and the ref making funny shapes with his hands, holding his ear and changing decisions that should never have been referred in the first place.

Part of me says its a bit deliberate right now and that the scrapping of VAR may well be their ultimate goal but thats just a bit of a conspiracy theory on my part.

The worst of it for me, its gone completely from giving the striker the benefit, or being level, anything less than 20cm offside should be considered part of the game imho, and only the howlers changed (milner last season springs to mind as an example), the frame time on cameras is not quick enough for less than that, the same applies with this foot on the line nonsense at penalties.

I remember the benefit of the doubt has to be with the striker and how more goals scored would improve the game.

Both feet of the striker in front of both feet of the last defender is offisde.

Anything else needs to be play on imo.
