VAR (PL introduction 2019)

How long was the game stopped for the VAR for Salah pen.
Heard it was 4 minutes

There was only 4 minutes added on at the end of the first half

At the time the board went out
West Brom had 2 injuries where subs were made
3 goals has been scored
And the VAR had also been used to disallow the goal

I really believe that the sophisticated 'stop' watches that refs use are just not stopped when there is a break in the play. I think they have a chat over the airwaves and come up with a random figure. They take all the items into consideration - goal celebrations, injuries, substitutions - but just come up with a 'oh. let's say three minutes!' And the fourth official has indicated there will be a minimum of two minutes. Stop the fucking watch, and blow when yer watch says 45mins are up! I will take some convincing that the added time is not a manipulation. There is so much bollocks creeping into the game these days that do not add one jot to the entertainment, excitement, accuracy for which the folk on the terraces pay good money.

It’s an intriguing innovation but it’s going to have many flaws much like the DRS system used in cricket.

I personally believe it should only be used for offsides as otherwise the games will constantly be disjointed.

Is there a limit to how many times it can be used a game?

And you 'might' be right.

But the point is, we have been told that we can put up with all this shit, because it gets the 'correct' decision.

Well imo, the correct decision is a penalty to Liverpool & a penalty to West Brom, so we have put up with it all, & arrived at an incorrect decision which has tipped the game in favour of Liverpool.

We'll agree to disagree then... shows how hard it is I guess, can't please everybody.... I'd say it got both decisions right, you think it favoured Liverpool...

This is something I've always thought. We referee differently to the European continent which results in red cards at International/European/CL tournaments, we should help ourselves by reffing in-line with Europe. Dele Alli is a prime example of a red waiting to happen for England as he wont get away with his fouls.

VAR - keep it, it'll stop cheating in the long run from rag refs.
No it wont

VAR will increase diving not reduce it. Take a dive, get a review, get away with it penalty! Not get away with it, yellow card - no retrospective ban for 1 game.... Salah proved that last night...

This doesn't make sense. If you take a dive with VAR, you won't get away with it... where currently lots of dives are given as penalties. Salah got pulled back, made a bit of a meal of it sure, but still clearly fouled....

No it wasnt a clear foul, nor was it a clear and obvious error as per stipulation.

We keep getting told that the calls were correct.

The pullback for which Salah was awarded a penalty, before the ball was even played in, didn't cause him to miss the ball or, fall to the floor, he dived & the ball was played into a 'dead' area.

How is this different, from routine pushing & shoving, at set pieces ?

If it is fair as a penalty, why is the quite blatant push on Gareth Barry, by Liverpool's goalkeeper, not a penalty ?

Why am I expected to accept this as being 100% correct & a vindication of this system ?
Completely agree, its ok for anyone to determine the laws of the game to the letter but its a physical, fast game and we have to accept decisions are not going to be 100% right all the time. The VAR decisions in the Pool game yesterday were dubious due to the fact they took the laws of the game to the enth degree. It's the thin end of the wedge and doesnt take into account common sense and give and take, it will ruin football with its fastidiousness.
