VAR Thread - 2021/22

Only way to stop these types of incidents is to add on the proper amount of time at the end of a game, which we all know won't happen. Even against Southampton in injury time when their player fell over his own leg and stayed down and play was stopped for 30 seconds that wasn't added on. Fans from all sides need to unite to sort out the game otherwise it becomes WWE. But we all know it won't happen as certain teams benefit more from VAR

the simple answer would be finish teams off with the amount of chances we make ? hence having a (striker) 100% make things better and stops us playing into their hands with time wasting and faking injuries

The best 'cheats' hide it well. Others not so much.

Have you ever watched the infamous Mike Riley (current head of the PiGMOL by the way) match between the Scum and Arsenal? It's on YouTube if you cared to search it out. That is about as one sided as you will ever see in terms of how the game was 'managed'.
Yup I've seen it. I I've watched the Italy Korea game, city v lfc CL... I have also spent time reducing match replays down to just the referee decisions... I've looked at it an awful lot, and there are many examples of potential corruption, obvious even.

But there's also illogicalities, and referees spending their time trying to get in the way of passes to be able to influence a game is silly when all they have to do is award pens or red cards... It makes the whole argument for corruption easy to throw out when people are saying that sort of thing.

Perhaps VAR should only get involved if the on-field ref' requests it? For example if he's not certain if a foul is inside/outside the box or if a linesman tells him he can't be certain about offside. All subjective incidents should be left entirely to the ref. He decided when VAR gets involved.
Yeah, this'll work a treat!

On Saturday the ref didn't even see it as a foul, yet we can all see it was either a penalty or a free-kick on the edge of the box. He also thought a straight legged thrust of a boot delivered with force to Laporte's thigh was just a yellow.

Penalty for foul on Foden at Southampton last year? Ref saw nowt wrong with that.
Milner on Foden at Anfield? Ref saw nowt wrong with that.
Milner on Bernardo at Anfield? Yeh, nowt wrong with that in the ref's eyes.
etc...etc...etc...(the list as almost endless)

Yet un*t*d get pens AFTER the fucking final whistle has gone, goals allowed when the ball has gone out of play in the build up (west ham last season), penalties for Ratboy standing on people and then falling over theatrically, ...etc...etc...etc (once again the list is almost endless)

And don't get me started on liverpooh and their favourable decisions.

All WITH VAR.

All your suggestion would achieve is what we have now, only without the slight safety net of blatantly "clear and obvious" errors; red shirts get positive decisions, sky blue get negative decisions.

There was someone arguing on twitter the other day that LiVARpool are suffering more than others from VAR overuled decisions. He even had a graph to back up the " evidence ".
All that shows is that the on-field referee gives loads of dodgy on-field decisions to liverpooh, which the VAR then, sometimes, overrules.

You've seen the evidence with your own eyes.

In the six months since this thread was opened, 21% of the posts have been about this weekend's game. To me, this indicates that this weekend is something of an outlier, and goes against the norm.

Yes, VAR will always throw up some contentious decisions, but they are becoming less frequent, which is a good thing.
I think its the first time VAR has actually overturned a correct decision for a wrong one. Add to that, there has been no two sides talk, every single person since has called it an awful decision and can't believe it.

its the closest VAR has come to a valid accusation of match fixing

Apart from the time the 'Match Commander' told the on field official to ignore a blatant penalty?
