I agree with that. That’s how it’s currently used but it’s used wronglyBut the officials in the VAR room have the laws of the game, they know if it’s offside or not - it’s not the referees judgment call - they are the ones to tell the ref if it is off or not
Having the referee run to the monitor for a look and a chat for a offside is pointless and wastes more time - it’s a simple yes or no decision
1. They don’t show the evidence in real time during the decision making process
2. They don’t account for the fact that the technology is incapable of an accurate decision when the margins are small number
of cml.
Both issues are easily fixable as I have described.
Var is not going away but it needs to be the slave of the referees, not the master. Transparency is everything as it keeps the whole thing honest from fuck ups to match manipulation.
