VAR thread 2022/23

The VAR operator could EASILY roll that forward 4 or 5 frames and make it look offside. If it was THAT obvious straight away, why did it take so long to check it?

They get slaughtered when they make decisions too quickly ( not looked at it properly) and now for taking too long. It took longer than normal because there were two separate potential offsides in the same move to consider.

Yeah, he's onside.

Look at how far Zinchenko is across that light green strip of pitch - maybe between a third and half. Then check where the defender is - closer to halfway across. Not loads in it, but he's on.

When it’s that tight for me it should always go to the attacking side! The problem is when it’s city though it always goes to the defending team

There is an tolerance level. When the two lines are touching it is on side, even if the attacking line is further forward. By modem standards it’s not a particularly close one. There’s a clear gap between the two lines.

Bollocks.

VAR is STILL subjective, with a margin of error that can be MANIPULATED. They can make their minds up instantly when it suits them, even for tight or contentious decisions, and they can take their time for the most blatantly obvious calls when they are searching for any reason NOT to give it.

If calls like that can be given either way using a technology we were all sold on being fair and honest in an competition where league places are worth potentially £Millions that technology is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.
