Yeah, he's onside.

Look at how far Zinchenko is across that light green strip of pitch - maybe between a third and half. Then check where the defender is - closer to halfway across. Not loads in it, but he's on.
He's 'onside' in the picture we were SHOWN. I bet there is a frame which also shows him offside, with no discernible difference in the position of the ball at the passers foot.

Yeah, that frame looks right but we can't be sure without being shown the previous/next ones.

There is always a frame where the ball is just hitting the foot and there is a frame where the ball looks like it being kicked and another frame where it’s just leaving the foot so there is the Leeway of how var can manipulate it to who they want!

Totally agree. I'd like to see a reverse version of the offsides/onsides - go to the frame where the player shows as onside and then see where the ball is, if it has been played yet or not.

Tbh, half of me wants the VAR team to continue their cheating / bias against City.

It gets the fans going, gets the passion and the fans behind the team.

Nothing like a common enemy to bring the club together!

We will beat all comers, and WE WILL BEAT THE VAR CHEATING.

all you need is two freeze frames. The last one where the ball has 'not' been touched and the first one where the ball 'has' been touched. If they are offside on both then they are offside. If they are onside on either then they are onside, given that the actual moment the ball is touched is likely to be somewhere 'within' the two frames on show

The problem is that between those 2 frames could be the difference between 'way onside' and 'way offside' depending on the relative speed and direction of both attacker and last defender, and there is currently no method in the PL of discerning the actual moment the foot impacts the ball. With current camera placement and resolution that is still a 100% subjective decision.

There is an tolerance level. When the two lines are touching it is on side, even if the attacking line is further forward. By modem standards it’s not a particularly close one. There’s a clear gap between the two lines.

Did we ever see that for the Mahrez "goal"? Can't remember it.

I haven’t seen it. I’m not sure if it has been released. Since it was not a televised game and not a VAR overturn, I’d guess it probably wasn’t. But it is only a guess.

It was televised. I know because I watched it ..... And they only show when it's an overturn? Like Rashford's goal against Liverpool?
