He was offside. Good application of VAR. Just needed common sense to re-instate the lad who got the 2nd yellow.

Agree with your first

As for your second point - if you take off your shirt it’s a yellow, doesn’t matter if the goal stood or not - he took of his shirt.

The basic faults still remain:
It takes too long (in some cases, way too long).
The fans in the stadium don't have a clue what's going on.
There is no uniform application of the technology used to arrive at offside decisions. This 'drawing of the lines' things is a total farce.
Clear and obvious evidence to overturn the on field decision is not being used.
They seem to be re-reffing the game, which is something they said it would never be used for.

As I said. Common sense.
Common sense ? Booking someone for taking his shirt off is not common sense. It is a stupid rule brought in by idiots. It started when players had sponsors names under their shirts, rather than deal with that one problem, they went at it with a steam hammer.
They are taking all the emotion out of the game.
Re the Var. It seems a correct decision and yet it is being argued about in Italy, saying he was in fact onside. So var hasn't decided anything.

They class off side decisions as a matter of fact. So correcting a wrong decision is the whole point of VAR. Re-refereeing a game would be when a referee has a clear view of a tackle, decides it’s a fair one and then when they go on to score, going back for another look and deciding it was a foul. But that would never happen.

If you’re a referee you have to book someone for taking their shirt off no matter the circumstance or situation, you can’t let common sense apply otherwise it could lead for one rule for one, one rule for other etc. it’s a simple no shirt off or you get a yellow and all players know it

I think with proper reffing VAR could be redundant - you need strong willed referee's with a knowledge of the game - we can all accept VAR has not caused there to be a removal of all incorrect decisions. Mic-ing up the ref would help us know whats going on too - see this from RL this weekend. Thats how you do it

I think Mike Dean admitted that if Aguero had already been on a yellow, he would have conveniently have “forgotten” to give him a second one.
