Venezuela economy

Life could be better literally everywhere with this idealist viewpoint.
The fact is that socialism will never deliver the nirvana you wish for, it never has, in fact it creates the complete
opposite, as evidenced by every single place that adopted it.

Socialism delivers everything, including long hot summers, just as long as it stays on the printed page. The minute it jumps off and attempts some measure of delivery and maintenance, it matches some of the worst seasons I've been a City fan.

They are a result of pressure from the (often socialist) left of the political spectrum. To suggest they were given up easily by the establishment right is pure, nonsensical fantasy.

I agree with the pressure coming from the left being responsible for many social ideas but I would disagree with anyone saying that must mean we must become a socialist country to do it.

We already do have socially responsible capitalism for example as the overwhelming majority of companies pay employees properly, treat them well and pay their taxes. It is only a minority that don't do this and unfortunately this is how the left attempts to tarnish all businesses in terms of capitalist greed which is wrong.

The left have unfortunately completely hijacked the moral ground in terms of economics for their own means and faced with logic they will still scream and point at the likes of Amazon avoiding tax. On the basis of Amazon, should we implement an economic model which would batter hundreds of thousands of businesses? It is madness.

The Scandinavian countries are excellent places to live not because of socialism as some claim but because of the harmony in the system. They implement social ideas on the basis that they are underpinned by a model that has been proven to work which is capitalism.

If we followed the Scandic model tomorrow then the country would be a better place but to do it we need centrist politics and not those of the left or right. Unfortunately centrist options are very few and far between at the moment.

No one on here is an expert on this and the decade of inteferance in that country alongside failure by the present government that has led up to it, so let's be honest we know not enough to comment with any perspective.

Maudro is not Chavez that's for sure.

He has less oil, that's for sure.

Nobody was interfering when Chavez was going around expropriating businesses, which invariably collapsed.
At some point the penny must drop that socialism has never, and will never, deliver.
