Trust in Mancio.

I reckon he wants to play 442 with a more versatile midfield pair. Vieira offers a bit more going forward than dejong

Sorry but he does not - his role is very very much a defensive midfield players - his role is to break up play and pass - he certainly is NOT a box to box player.

Time will tell

Correct he probably wants to play with some sort of 4-3-1-2 with no wingers.

He is probably far more capable of grabbing more goals from midfield than De Jong though , and has done in years gone by ...... so It's pretty clear that Viera does get forward more than he does .

He is not being bought for goals - we score them for fun - he is being bought for defensive and leadership qualities which is a huges for the team BUT who is going to make way for him.

What he has done in years gone by is pretty much irrelevent because he does not the play same role as he did in years gone by.

Vieira is 33 not 34!!! He will prove to be a masterstroke...height, presence, strength and experience at the very highest of levels.

It's a win, win situation for me. He'll bring experience and that winning mentality we so badly need. I think Mancini has been very cute with this signing.CTID

He offers MORE in attack than Dejong, nobody is saying he's an attacking player

Viera 104 goals in career
Dejong 11....

Time will tell guys.

But you can bet you bottom dollar we will be glad of him on Monday against Bungle and his long ball shite

Frankly I'm rather surprised that Vieira would want to leave Inter Milan in the middle of a joint Champions League and Serie A title bid. Maybe he thinks that Chelski will knock them out in the next round. For me it's a good signing as NDJ is always likely to get injured or suspended. Zabaleta may feel aggrieved as he was destined for a midfield role if a new right back came, but otherwise its a win-win scenario.
