Sorry but he does not - his role is very very much a defensive midfield players - his role is to break up play and pass - he certainly is NOT a box to box player.

Are people really saying central midfield is our priority when we only have one fit first choice defender at the moment ? Of course it is. Silvinho started the game left midfield, the reason the system was all over the show in the fa cup match was due to the fact we have no players fit and available in defence !

Like I said happy with a 6 month deal 18 month contract is not good business IMO. Also he says he is comming to play regular as he wants to get in the world cup squad. So we sign a central defender, toure comes back, Lescott back fit in a few weeks same nedum, same richards how do we play Kompany, Barry, De Jong, Ireland who gets dropped so Viuera gets regular games ?

I like Mancini and I hope he gets in the left back and centre half we need so badly in soon.

There's a lot in what you're saying. Whether we like it or not, Mancini has decided he wants Vieira so the very least we can do is put our faith in the manager and get behind him and the team - regardless of who's on the pitch.
Vieira is a workman-like signing and he'll be a welcome addition to our midfield, of that I'm sure.

It seems there are lots of blues on here who are disappointed that not every player we get is a £30 million-plus marquee signing.

He is probably far more capable of grabbing more goals from midfield than De Jong though , and has done in years gone by ...... so It's pretty clear that Viera does get forward more than he does .

Not really its a position we dont really need cover, 6 months fine 18 months on a player who is 34 and has bad injury problems just seems a bit silly TBH. All I can read into this is we are a soft touch again with agents taking the pioss out of us. He is out of contract in the sumemr and wants to play, no other club would have given him more than a 6 month deal, no other club was willing to pay him £100k a week even.

we dont need cover in midfield we are down to the bare bones johnson out, ireland out, barry playing with groin injury, kompany having to revert back to centre half,
if we dont need cover why was slyvinho required to play centre mid in the second half against middleborough i think these few points alone warrant a central midfield player being signed


also viera has been injury free for the last 4/5 months has a wealth of experiance and wants to go to the worldcup, if he was fit in the summer and wenger could have afforded his wages he would have gone to arsenal
