Whilst you're right , to a point ..... ALL midfielders HAVE to be capable of chippin' in with a few goals ....... you cannot always rely on your strikeforce , and in recent seasons Stephen Ireland has won us many games that he hasn't won us this season ..... hence all those draws ...... we have scored a few goals , yet teams like Arsenal , for example , have scored THIRTEEN goals more than we have ..... goals win games , and ours just haven't been winning us enough ....... that's partly due to not having enough midfield punch!
Goals have always been a part of Vieras game ... he's even chipped in with a few at Inter , in the games he's played ....... yes , he's being brought in mainly for his leadership qualities , and experience ...... but he hasn't changed his overall game as much as you reckon he has , and Mancini would have studied Vieras complete package.

I think we need him. Now we have Toure playing in Africa, Kompany could play in the middle of the defense so with Viera we have another option for the defensive midfield
