Vieira - Medical today

Don't get it personally. Would of said good squad signing but as said, he would only have agreed to come here under the assurance that he will start most games as he's desperate to make it into the france world cup squad. As it is though, we have better midfielders already at the club.

I swear Richard's must be bluemoon's adopted muscle baby the way some fan goes on about him. In the City of old, he would have been a big loss, today, blah. I'm sure we'd find a much more technically gifted player to play RB.

No one's going on about him. Just don't want to see us shift out a kid who's got a lot of pontential but has had a difficult time of late. Some of us are patient

I'm all for homegrown, but I'm of the opinion that Richard's has largely reached his potential, and the rest is down to football intelligence which he clearly lacks.

No player demands he starts every game, despite what you read.

He will fight to be in the team and his experience will be priceless and worth his wages alone.

We need a leader desperately, and now we have one.

Great signing IMO

I watched vieria play for inter yesterday and he looked great.

He was winning tackles playing lovely passes and fitness seemed ok. He will add height, prem experience and class to our squad.

For a free transfer this can only be good for the club!!!

same age as ballack, not much older than gerrard or lampard! Very happy to have him. We dont have any one like him in the squad. A natural box to box player, who can pick it up and drive the ball forward!

oh and as for that nonsense that richards has reached his potential...at 21 i doubt it!

Its a shame that some people think footballers are no good after they hit thirty. There are several great players older than thirty.

No one was saying John Terry is one of the best defenders in the world when he was twenty one.

he's got a rnb mix tap between his ears unfortunately. his potential was always physical which he has clearly met.

Have the people who are saying they're not sure why we've signed him etc seen our bench recently? We've got numerous injuries and have a lot of games between now and the end of the season. De Jong and Barry are the only two defensive minded players midfielders we've got with Kompany now being needed at the back so to bring in a player who knows what the premiership is about, still has a hunger to succeed and i'm sure still has plenty of ability for me is a good move and i'm pleased with this

I'm not convinced on this one but prepared to wait and see. Maybe it's about leadership skills/attitude/winning mentality as much as ability.

What I do know is a defensive midfielder wouldnt have been the first place I would look to buy.

Fully agree Failsworth Blue, when i first heard i wasnt sure, but when you think what Mancinis objective is then we need all the experience we can get and Vierra has loads. Taking suspensions and injury problems that will arise from now til May this could be a great signing
