Vieira - Medical today

Anyone else think he will be our new captain?

Definately, this is what we have lacked all season a leader on the pitch. To be fair Hughes recognised that with the bid to sign Terry.

I also think Mancini sees Kompany as a CB. He likes playing 3in Midfield, it will now be 3 out of Vieira, Barry, NDJ and Ireland for these spots depending on the opposition.

Only if he finds a replacement, and there doesnt seem to be anything concrete right now.

You can't be sure of that. Even if we signed a right back Mancini might still want Micah as part of his squad and see him as an important player for the future. It's already been mentioned that Mancini might want Micah as a centre half

I don't think he's looking to make wholesale changes, we have a decent squad, but fullbacks are a clear weak area. So we can expect changes in that area. Whether that involves defensive players leaving, who knows?! I can't see him wanting to work with a 30 man squad.

I swear Richard's must be bluemoon's adopted muscle baby the way some fan goes on about him. In the City of old, he would have been a big loss, today, blah. I'm sure we'd find a much more technically gifted player to play RB.

Gutted we've signed someone else whose name hardly anyone can spell!

V I E I R A

He will be good cover whilst MichAEl Johnson is injured ;)
he wont be coming in as cover though will he. he wants to get in the world cup squad so will have wanted assurances that he will play. personally i think this is a stupid move. a loan would of been fine but to offer him a lengthy contract on probably astronomical wages is plain daft. i thought we might have stopped signing past it players now we have money. clearly not.

Agreed.

Cos he's way past his peak. If there was a big announcement at City claiming we'd signed a secret marquee signing and it turned out ot be Vieira, people would feel a bit short changed and rightly so

For me Marque is about status, and he brings bags of that even in his 30's
Let's get Pele and Maradona too then. ;)

Don't see the point in this. Im sure he's not goin to come as back up he's come to play and he's nowhere near as good as De Jong now.

Wenger let him go a few years ago when his form starting dipping and from his time in Italy he's been proved right.

agree with this ^^^^^

but also we got to put trust in mancini, in mancini we trust

It's typical City ;) signing past it players for more than they're worth haha

As a squad player I would say fair enough but as some have already said don't think he'd have come as a squad player. The one time Ive watched him in the last couple of years was against the rags last season and he looked like he was running in quick sand against Giggs.Plus he's obviously not been getting a game at Inter so I'm not exactly excited by this one but we shall see.

I think it's a good signing. Firstly there's no doubting his pedigree. I've not really followed him since he left England but if he's anything like he was, it will be excellent.

Secondly, he knows Mancini and he knows his style of play, so he's in the ideal position to make sure the Mancini game plan is carried out.

Looking at the quotes, he's not coming to be a squad player or an impact bench player, he wants to play to get into that France squad for the World Cup so I just wonder who will miss out in that midfield. Nice problem to have though and as far as I'm concerned, if we're winning, Mancini can play who he likes, whether it's our favourites or not.

Can't wait to see him play against the rags - he'll surely be up for that one!!!

No one's going on about him. Just don't want to see us shift out a kid who's got a lot of pontential but has had a difficult time of late. Some of us are patient
