I agree he would provide cover for the squad - especially with Johnno and Ireland out - however.....

The reason he wants to leave Inter is because he wants first team football to be part of France's squad for the World Cup, so coming here to act as cover doesn't make sense. Is he better than Barry or De Jong? Not anymore he isn't.....

No doubt he will be on a fair whack too so what's the point?

was wondering if its deals like this for us in the jan transfer window? seem to remember people saying that mancini`s contract was intial six months then if he got us in the top 4 then 3 year deal after that? so on that basis maybe the owner and chairman dont wanna splash too much cash until we see where we are in june? hope thats not the case but could be their thinking?

On loan would be perfect, he's a class act, obviously not as good as he used to be, but he brings top class experience and knows the league inside out, still a top top player and he adds valuable height into midfield, if he impresses and he's brilliant then we can buy him in the summer, win win situation, nothing to lose and it's not a gamble, would be a very good signing IMO.
