Although my former friend was a snide ****, I believe it all comes down to the Barry transfer that saw Villa become a selling club.

I got the train back to Birmingham after the game so I was in amongst them whilst queuing for the train. I was wearing a City hoodie and cap and was right in the middle of it whilst fans were goading each other with lots of infantile posturing across the barriers but never had a second's trouble myself.

The media play their part in their way they treat CIty stoking envy about about money and how its unfair we have it so they are being cheated.
When we eventually signed Delph the BBC featuring loads of their fans in righteous indignation about City stealing him and then an 'aww bless' piece of a young snot coming out with his junior vitriol waving a toy snake.

Yeah and all the media have to do is spread one tiny thing and everyone else does their job for them. Even when it comes to buying players all summer United were talked about on sky for sancho and rarely mentioned how they’ve spent so much and spending another £120million won’t help but it’s all “oh United need more signings” and stuff. In my experience, fans from the four 'main' Midlands clubs are all knuckle-dragging, racist backwards types.

I took a family friend to Wembley that day, first time for him at a final. It felt like it was going to go-off an hour before the game and it made me quite worried about getting into trouble with him.

After the game, we headed back to London and on to Wimbledon. There was an edge on both trains and it was only because there was more blues with us they obviously didn’t fancy it.

Thought they behaved badly that day but I expected it, to be honest. Very different to the Sunderland fans a few years before.
