Villa fans

The most fickle fan base in the country for me. A club the size of Villa when not doing well used to bring only 1k fans. The rags of the midlands despised by all in that area.
They won the European cup once in case anyone didn’t know!

A forgetable European Champs just like Nottingham Forest.

What are you talking about? It was very memorable at the time and I can’t think why you’d be disrespecting it?
At least both they and Villa had won the league before entering the EC, although Forest won it the second time as European champions. They only team to win the European Cup more often than their domestic league and a staggering achievement, which should not be downplayed.

Less tribal times. I was only a kid but seem to remember everyone wanted Villa and Forest to win their finals

They're that big that prior to their last title win in 80-81 season the last time they won it the titanic was still afloat. You have to go back to season 1909-10 for their last title win.
The Villa fan who replied to my earlier post at least acknowledged that most of their trophies had been won before Franz Ferdinand had stopped a bullet in Sarajevo.
(i.e. before 1914).

It was definitely more tribal in the 70s/80s.
It was that tribal that everyone fought each other to decide who was the hardest, best tribe in football.
Although I do agree that alot of people wanted English teams to do well in the EC in those days.

Haha I think people back then just liked a scrap, only three TV channels in those days!

So did I. I even wanted Liverpool to win it in those days although I do remember I was very pleased when Forest knocked Liverpool out in the first round…..
