Villa v City post match thread.

Villa, though... they've given up as a club. their fans did no more than shrug and trudge out after our fourth. no remonstrating, no anger, just passive sulking. they're resigned to the Championship and will do nothing to stop themselves, it seems.

The few who were left in the ground at full time did show their anger as their players headed for the tunnel, they were being very verbal & the expression on some of them was quite scary actually.

I thought Micah played well &, like our own brilliant Captain the Zab man, captained well also.

Whilst Vinnie is out we should ALWAYS have Zabaleta as our captain. I'm beginning to sound like a stuck record on that one!! :-)

You're right. We lost to Middlesborough in FA cup 4th round on Jan 24th 2014. But, I remember being more confident about the trophies around this time, during that season. We were absolutely flying in the league smashing every one until we lost to our first home defeat of the season against Chelsea in Feb 2014. In League cup, we had just won 9-0 against West Ham and facing Sunderland in the final. This season is just not comparable to that one.
Fuck me, if only there were web sites to check stuff before posting.
We lost to Boro LAST season; in 2015. Two seasons ago we got to the quarter final but lost to Wigan.
You even mention the defeat against Chelsea. Don't you remember the media fuss about Maureen giving Pellers a "lesson in football management", yet a couple of weeks later we beat them 2-0 in the fifth round? That's the fifth round we wouldn't have reached had we lost to Boro in the fourth round.

Very good win. It does the confidence of the players no harm at all to win without having to call on Silva, Aguero, Toure et al.

We won 4-0 so the negligent performance of Mike Jones will be forgotten. He appeared to be making up rules as he was going along. Sterling was fouled when he had a tap in from 6 yards and no red card is given. Then Sterling gets booked for being pushed in the face. Jones needs to go back to reffing kids if he just wants to piss about trying to make a game of things.

Perfect afternoon. Kelechi is rightfully getting all the love, but there were other important outcomes.

Kudos to Pellers for giving Zab the captaincy. Zab is actually a leader and showed that in the penalty decision. I would be happy for Zab to continue in the role. It was also great to see 4 juniors on the pitch near the end. You can see that it means a lot to them judging by the interview with Angelino on the OS. Let's hope there is more of it :-).

The only down side for me is that in this day and age we can't watch City play every game on tele. I wonder if City would be allowed to stream the game onto the website? Probably wishful thinking as I imagine there is an FA rule saying that it can't be done.
Agree with all this especially our Zab. Been my fave player for a while now and perfect choice for captain. But not sure why he wouldn't let Raheem take the penalty? The poor kid looked gutted.

Don't like the rule of a pen and a sending off, but if that was a foul then it was a clear red.
