Beat Everton next week and thus ends the bullshit!!

No, thats when we'll get more triumphalist "thats why we were outers" bullshit, until the next loss when we'll get more "Mancini should have stayed bullshit" until the next win ....

Possession is good. If it means you control the game. If you control the game you restrict the opposition's ability to score by denying them the chance to score. They scored 3 and came back twice from being a goal down to win the game. That is not the hallmark of a team controlling the game. Possession with out control is an exercise in futility.

We had 67% possession yesterdray , but still managed to lose to probably Villas only three attempts on goal !

The City defending for the third goal was like something you'd see in a sunday league pub game , and the defending for the first was hardly any better .......

it's a fair bet that all and sundry connected with Aston Villa will wake up this fine morning and wonder how they even managed to win that game!

The defending for the first in terms of holding the line was spot on..they held their line and if the lino did his job properly they should have had that goal chalked off..

Yes the linesman did get it wrong , but it wasn't THAT clear a decision , we still had players almost in line with the scorer.

The situation arose because THREE City defenders converged in a blind panic on ONE attacking Villa player ,allowing space for him to slip the ball through to the scorer !

Villa deserved the win. This "flukey" bullshit on here is absolute nonsense, bury your heads in the sand all you want but there will be plenty more Cardiff and Villa results to come. The next 6 games will tell us all we need to know about the current squad of players but I can see us being as much as 10-12 pts off the pace come early December, if that's the case then it's curtains in the league for us.

Give over. On what metric are you coming to the conclusion that 'Villa deserved to win' yesterday? I know they scored 3 goals and we scored 2, but I have seriously only seen one other game in my entire City watching life that was like this, which was a game at home against Bolton a few years ago when we battered them all game and they snatched it with a 90th minute penalty conceded by Dunne. On a different day, we'd have scored a bag full yesterday. Villa did not deserve to win. In fact, the team, manager and wank stain supporters probably can't believe their fucking luck.

I agree with your point about the next 6 games, but if we are 10 points off the pace by Christmas, it will probably be to Arsenal or Spurs, both of whom I'd expect to be 'reeled in' after Christmas.

Why are you expecting Arsenal to be "reeled in". They have a much better record than us over the last 20 premier league games.

Blinkers off a realist would say Arse are improving while we have been declining for over a season now.

Arsenal are an injury or two away from mediocrity. They have nothing on the bench of note and the season will take its toll. They are a good team, they have a good manager and they play good football, but they have proven for the last 5/6 years that they are fragile. Spurs are an unknown, but a good start is all this is. The bookies seem to think so and whilst they're not always right, they are usually there or thereabouts. It's been a long time since a 'long shot' has won the league.

Reel them in I say, reel them in..!

It was as clear as day

Equally playing with such an open defensive formation away from home will give teams like Villa and Cardiff chances to score and if have a bad day conversion rate wise (1 in 7+) it will cost us. Lose another two before Christmas and the title is gone.

I think Arsenal, United, Chelsea, and Spurs will all drop another six points between now and Christmas.

We really can't be sure how this season will pan out but I there's a good chance it won't be one where you can only afford to lose four or five games in the season if you want to win the title. I wouldn't want to be any further behind the top team than we are now come 1 January but how many more defeats we can afford to ensure that we are no worse off than that, I couldn't say. I do think we are going to need to to go on a really good run before too long though if we are to win the title.

I don't think Villa scored three goals because we were open defensively; you can aim that criticism at the third but not the first two of their goals. I am not really convinced that being open was to blame for the third; shit play from back to front was. Aside form our CB's cocking-up, one of our forwards should have slowed Guzan down and Hart should have done better. Hart needed to have had a higher starting position to defend the third or should have stayed in his box and made the attacker do more work to beat him.

Anway, I'm getting bored with discussing yesterday, people can nitpick all they like but I am writing it off as a "shit happens" day. If we have several of them, I'll reappraise that view.

Couldn't we say that 3/3 away games have been "shit happens" days though?

Shit shouldn't have happened. Nastasic made a stupid foul that was in no way necessary and Hart ran right out and then made no attempt to do anything (compare what Lloris does).

Both these goals have come about because our last line of defence has fallen into panic.

Left it until now due to the usual knee-jerk shit. Weirdly, whilst disappointed we've not won the game, I'm remarkably sanguine. I know it's been a bit up and down this season so far in places, but the ups have shown me enough to not be too worried.

Onwards and upwards.
Yes that's very weird. Stoke beaten by Norwich today at Stoke (we drew), Cardiff failed to win their next two home games after beating us and yesterday we handed Villa their first home victory after they had lost at home to Geordies and Dippers. Still glad you remain 'remarkably sanguine'. We should have got nine points from these games ( minimum seven).
Correct, we should have but we didn't. The world turns, life goes on and we're only 3 points off top spot with a shit load of the season left. Like I say, the good stuff I've seen leaves me still feeling more positive on the whole than pessimistic for the season. Plenty of sides will cop a battering off us.

We are 5 off top. Luckily we are only 1 off fourth which given our away results needs to be aimed for first

Don't agree but then it is all about opinions. By the way we're five points off the top.

Last time I looked we were 5 points behind after 6 games? 6 of the easiest games we're going to play this season. Not great.

Its exhilarating, makes you feel alive don't it?!

Though I personally am a 'I wish mancini didn't go but I'm happy to support our manager now' guy.
