Villa Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

We deserved more today. We played well. However, I cannot agree with those who say this result was a 'fluke' or 'one-off'. No, it wasn't. We keep conceding these clear-cut chances from nothing. Maybe Villa got lucky today, but Hull were unlucky not to be two-nil up after about fifteen minutes. Even when we look secure we seem capable of surrendering a couple of quick goals from nowhere. We have conceded three goals on seven occasions now since Mancini left; Norwich; Chelsea; Chelsea; AC Milan; Arsenal; Cardiff; Villa. Obviously four of them were post- and pre- season and the Chelsea matches were effectively exhibition matches but conceding three goals against three bottom-half opposition in the space of seven league games does not seem like an accident. I remember that one of the biggest sticks I used to beat Hughes with was that we conceded three goals on five occasions in just seventeen games. It took Mancini over a hundred league games to concede three goals on five occasions. The contrast said a lot. Now we've done it thrice in the space of seven league games against poor opposition. Where's the 'fluke'? Where was the 'fluke' in us being the best defence for the past three years? OK, we're moving to a more attacking style of play - a we-will-score-more-than-you-to-win kind of play. Fine, if it works. I don't wank off to Baresi and Maldini. However, is it going to work? I continue to have doubts that it will work and that perhaps we need to strike a better balance away from home.
Good post, and I concur with most of it, personally if we win 7-4 every week, bring it on I'll enjoy it. If we were playing in Spain it might even happen, but not in the PL, so MP has to learn that when we've 'won' a game, as we should have today having gone 2-1 up, sometimes it will pay to actually make sure we do. However you can't legislate for stupid mistakes in any game, and 2 cost us today, arguably three with the offside goal. However in this league there are times, especially when you don't have your best team out there, that closing a game out is more important than attacking style. Today we still should have done that with the players we had out there, so the blame should lie with them.

Don't you lot understand FFS!?
He turns up at the Etihad looking all smooth and suave like a typical Italian - just who does he think he is - eh?
He immediately turns a shambolic defense into a watertight cohesive unit. Would you know it we then have the best defensive record in the Premier League for 3 seasons running! What a fluke eh? He's just lucky!

Then he gets even luckier - typical Italian! He somehow gets us full qualification into the Champions League - not a 4th place play off position, oh no, it has to be straight forward qualification doesn't it? Well it would have to be with him wouldn't it? Then he goes and flukes our first trophy for 34 years - just how lucky can one man get I ask?
Well... Then what does he go and do? His team systematically destroy the Rags 1-6 at the Swamp. Jammy bugger eh?

The lucky bugger then only goes and wins us the league title with the last kick of the game whilst the Rags were just starting their celebrations for winning it at Sunderland... Now that is just a lucky man living in lucksville on a lucky day wasn't it?!

But this man's luck couldn't last now could it? Of course not! You see on occasions he shouted at a few of the players because they we're lazy bastards! This Mancini character got annoyed if they didn't give 100% week in and week out - just who the fuck did this guy think he was ? The Manager? Well we couldn't have that now could we? The poor precious fragile souls actually having a bollocking when they needed one or deserved one -.oh goodness me no! So all of our International superstars complained about this Italian chap who wouldn't take any crap off anybody and actually told them a few home truths on occasions - and it came to pass he was sacked and went back to Italy as the most successful Manager of the club since the late great Joe Mercer- the lucky bugger!

The sensitive souls that our international superstars are we're just so happy at that decision! But you see... It takes time for these precious artists to get over being shouted at. It takes a lot of time...

So the defeat at Cardiff, the lucky away draw at Stoke and the embarrassing defeat at Villa Park is all Mancini's fault! If he hadn't had shouted at them and upset them then everything would have been just fine.
Big bad old Italian Mancini!
It's all his fault - nobody else. It can't possibly be the players fault can it? No! The new managers fault? No! So logic dictates it had to be all down to Mancini.
Now everybody is happy again. All friends, all smiles and no shouting!
And everybody lived happily ever after in the land of holistic People...

Utterly Superb and Spot on to boot!

To be honest forget the defeats at Cardiff and Villa, as a club we should be more worried about bleeding to death from that gunshot wound to the foot courtesy of the Spanish Assassins!

I'm a great believer in what come around goes around and I rather suspect certain characters will soon pay heavily for the part they played in the events of last May.

I don't think you will find may who will disagree with you, but the 3 goals were quite fluky, it's something they will have to get over and get over quick

The goals were not 'flukey' just as the 3 goals against Cardiff were not 'flukey' - it was piss poor defending in the majority of cases. We have to stop trying to defend the indefensible. Since the change of management our defensive record is very poor. Other aspects of the team have improved undoubtedly but our defense is currently bobbins!

And will not get any better because from Kompany's own mouth "we wasn't thinking about defending" that's our captain speaking so in training it must all about attacking the opposition which is great but what about when we are on the back foot or defending a 0-1 lead away from home?

I'm beginning to dislike seeing Negredo and Dzeko on together at the same time.
It was never going to work. They see each other as direct rivals to partner Kun.

Hence why they never looked to combine with each other or tee the other up the whole match.
