Villa Vs City Post Match Thread

Hard fought 3 points away from home. A little sloppy in the final 3rd until the last 10mns of the first. Really turned on the pressure and had some great corners. By far the most effective run of corners I've seen from the team in the last few years. Villa defended really well and it seemed like it was going to be one of those days. Despite creating scoring chance after scoring chance & if the keeper didn't make a great save then a defender was making a great clearance. Looked like we wore them down by the end. Was impressed with the mentality to continue pushing without losing confidence and trying to force things like we did 2 & 3 seasons ago. 2 more terrific goals, seem like they are all top flight goals this year. Important win before the international break.

Professional performance.

Villa never really threatened bar a couple of breaks, Mangala and Kompany (bar the sloppy pass first half) were very impressive, Silva out of this world, truly amazing, I thought Yaya got his finger out today and was much better, Aguero was strangely poor but his goal was bullet.

Shame that's our last game in a couple of weeks, but hey, who isn't looking forward to England's blockbusters with Estonia and San Marino.. :|

What was the new song being sung today? Heard it most in the first half from the top tear but I was in the villa end so not sure what it was. Great performance, must admit I was a little nervy towards the end, but yaya showed what he can do. Well chuffed

Great post.
Sums up the game perfectly
I just worry that we couldn't finish them off sooner.
The game was beginning to have a Sunderland 2011/12 season away feel to it ,but thankfully it didn't happen.
We need to turn our dominance into goals earlier, as to how I'm not sure at the minute.

Great result, thought we played well, it was a long time coming, but patience at this level is important, and we fully deserved the victory. The stats show what an utterly one sided game it was, that was how I saw it live too.

Some very good individual performances.

Particularly in no special order, Silva, Milner, Yaya, Kolorov, Fernandhino (hope he's OK), Mangala, Kompany of the starters, and Fernando and Lampard of the subs.

2 very good goals, even if we left it late.

My man of the match was James Milner again, his industry just outshining Silva's skill for me.

Happy with the points but it shouldn't detract from the fact we were fuckin abysmal for 80 mins
Must have been a different game to one I watched here in New Zealand - you must want a goal every few minutes if that was an abysmal 80 minutes.
